Air pump removal question

Hi

I have searched the group for answers on this and checked http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/index.

But still I do not know the answer

I have today removed the air pump,  and fitted a greedy pulley set,
I have not removed anything alse yet apart from the air pump and the pipe which connected to the pump and then connected to a tube about 5inch\'s further back.
I was hoping not to remove the ACV and EGR valve ( sounds like I know what I am talking about, well I don\'t know what either of these do I just read it form the site above:)

So to my question can I simply block the tube which the pipe from the air pump connected to? without removing anything else.

I started the car up today with out a bung on the tube and I get a funny noise commnig from it, block the tube with fingers and the noise reduced.

Can anyone help please.
