Ive seen some pictures of engine bays and people have wrapped pipes in tin foil by the look of them? and was just wondering if it actually does anything apart from making it look like a few pipes wrapped in tin foil?????? what pipes do people wrap?
I only ask as i have acquired some metal tape from work and im not afraid to use it :spank

i was thinkin exactly the same thing, msut be something to do wtih heat but i dont have a clue wether it works, anyone help us out with an answer??

MikeLMR

its thermal insulation which has a reflective outer to reflect radiated heat.

Tin foil would only reflect the radiated heat.

its also a lot more expensive that tin foil,  it has a woven glass fibre material one side and the shiny stuff the other as mike says.  Its good for protecting things from heat...
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Hmmmmmmmmmm
What about wrapping the pipes first in cotton wool, then the metal tape?
 What pipes need wrapping???????????????

er..... I hope you\'re not serious about the cotten wool!

Serious fire hazard there! You\'ll have a small fire under your bonnet very quickly.....then a medium fire..... and then a 999 call to the fire brigade!! argh!

Best not! Just use the heat resistant tape.

Ive had a look in the girlfriends make up stash and she only has them cotton bud stick things, it would take me ages to pick off all of the cotton and cellotape it to the said pipes :rollin
I will just stick with the tape then, thanks for all the replies :god
