The heater controls on my newly bought \'93 rex are doing the wrong things. Example, screen only demist setting (all the way to the right) sends air blasting into the footwells! Whats gone wrong?

Just got my first RX and its doing exactly the same thing, all the blower controls are not sending air where they should, at the moment its set on the floor vent setting and its coming out the windscreen ones.
If i turn it back and forward it is a total lottery as to where the air will come out.
Anyone else had this problem ????????

Prise off the button (carefully!!) and make sure the nut that holds the switch in place has not come loose, allowing the whole internal unit to swivel, there should be a tab that keeps it in place but if the nut becomes loose then the tab slips away and the whole unit will turn when you turn the switch.

If thats not it then it is possibly the internals of the heater controls are goosed...

Cheers Don, i\'ll take a look at that, but i dont think its come loose as it still clicks exactly the right amount, it just seems to blow out whichever hole it wants.
How is the switch linked to the heater unit ? electronic or hard wires ?
Guess i\'ll go and pull it all apart today and take a look.
