Hi Guys,

I\'m fairly new round here, this is my first post and I wonder if anyone can help? Since joining I have read a lot about Apexi PFC\'s and the risk of running lean/over-boosting with a full de-cat. First of all what is a PFC? My car is a UK F3DS which is completely standard apart from the exhaust system which is a bit of a pick\'n\'mix. I\'ve got an HKS downpipe, a Bonez hi-flow cat and a Racing Beat back box. My question is, should I consider an Apexi PFC thingy or is it safe as it is? My only future plans for more mods as far as the engine tuning is concerned is a cold air induction kit.

I would also like to replace the Racing Beat back box with a Blitz Nur Spec, but they seem to have different length pipes running from the centre section. So my other question is, will the Nur Spec bolt directly to my centre section, whereas the RB is in 2 pieces? To further confuse me there seems to be 2 different Nur Spec exhausts available, again with different length pipes. Does one of these include the centre section and therefore loses the cat?

Any help given will be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Matt

Apexi PFC is a replacement ECU which is 100% re-mappable.

The pre cat on the UK car is pretty big and in my opinion if that alone was swapped for a de-cat downpipe I would get the PFC.  I would also reccomend getting it fully re-mapped on a rolling road to make sure everything is at its best.  If you only want the other two mods then, if you can ie money permitting, you will only have to pay for one rolling road session but the zorst and induction are pretty ££££ in the first place!

As for the NurSpec, sorry I havn\'t got a clue!

OK, nice one Ricco

How much am I looking at to get an Apexi PFC? And then roughly how much for the rolling road session and remap? Also, where can I get this done? I heard there was an RX7 specialist somewhere near Reading, but can\'t remember the name.

Hopefully someone else will come along who can sort me out on the Nur Spec.

Right you have ;

Dragon - Exeter
WGT - Northwich, Cheshire
Ro-Tecnics - Basingstoke
Hayward Rotary - Coventry, Midds
Re:Worx - Portsmouth
Jimmies - East Anglia

As for the cost of parts, fitting and setup - they all differ. There are group buys and people selling second hand PFC\'s from time to time so you could keep an eye out there (although you wont get much of a warranty you will save some dosh!)

Have a look at some of the vendors adverts at the top of the page and you should be able to get some quote\'s.

I myself am saving up for a shopping spree (what I want is - de-cat downpipe, hi-flow sports cat, Apexi PFC and commander and a rolling road session to get it all set up) so I will be folling you pretty much!! :cool
