Wondering if any body can help, to long story short.

Purchased 94 RX7 with approx 50,000 miles on the clock, at this point it was pretty much standard with only a large cat back, engine went within two weeks, had it rebuilt at a cost of £2800.00 but still came back with a slight hick up (miss) at idle every now and again, it did this also before it chipped a seal and died.

Had PowerFC remapped and new leads and intercooler connection which was leaking last week at a cost of over £500.00!!!!!

STILL have this slight miss at tick over and now since the re map if I drive at full throttle from say 30mph it will begin to hesitate (jolt if not for a better word) from around 100mph unless I slightly back off the throttle, to be honest it was probally running better before re-map and that was at base setting.

Also since re-map it does not like to idle smooth sometimes, when I come to traffic lights it will pulse for a few seconds then sit at 1500rpm then slowly drop to around 850rpm but then sometimes it is fine

Any help would be appriciated.

HKS SSQ BOV

I belive it\'s a Type R II

It has had a full rebuild
new plugs
new leads
new fuel filter and I run only on Optimax.

I\'ve owned this car 5 months now and still it\'s not running correct, beginning to wish I had sold it when it blew like I nearly did but it now stands me in at £10,000!!! and to think I only brought it cos I liked the frickin wheels!! I want to like this car but my Eclipse is sadly missed at present

P.S Does anybody know what kit and spoiler I\'ve got

re-amemiya kit & spoiler.
Sounds like you may have an air leak or running too lean because of the tuning.

Not a good story then.

Can you not take the car back to where it was mapped and have some discussions with the person who mapped it? I would have thought something would have shown up during the mapping.
Im no expert so I\'ll leave more helpfull suggestion to other more in the know.

Spoiler looks like a RE:Amemiya (very expensive if it is)

By the way, your car looks SWEET! hope you get it running as when you do you forget that Eclipse.

if you had the car mapped and paid good money for it you should be taking it back to the mapper. If you are having any kind of power delivery problem, the mapper should have spotted it, found out what it was and gone through the issue with you. That is what you are paying your hard earned cash for, an expert to tune your car so its working right. If they never spotted it they shouldn\'t be doing tuning like that and if they did spot it but failed to tell you they are neglecting their duties.

Sounds to me like its running lean but obviously its hard to say from s brief description on a message board.

the brief bit of hunting at lights is pretty normal, I wouldn;t worry about that.

I saw this car advertisied on findit.co.uk for ages and it does sound resonabley cheap at first.  Did you notice anything wrong when you test drove the car.

Thanks for all the input so far, really confirming what I thought, Running lean, but I had assumed this would be impossible seeing it had gone to a well know RX7 specialist for the re-map, giving them there due he did find the leaking intercooler join and therfore giving me my boost back and found a slight mis at high revs due to HT leads.

Hoever although the inital acceloration is much better it\'s actually slower at higher speeds.

If running lean would it still flame though?? because at the moment when you back off the throttle at around 120-130mph (on private ground of course) it lets out a massive orange flame that lights up the surrounding area for about 2 seconds.
Just got back from driving it today and the hesitation is there at any full acceleration.

Not sure if I mentioned the other day I struggled to pass a VW Golf VR6, he would not move over and I was dumping to intimidate him a little lol!! but when he did I struggled to get by due to the hesitation and having to ease off the throttle.

Mind you I seem only to have 260BHP accrding to the Dyno sheet, which seems strange as I thought they were 280 standard???

Thanks for the kit and spoiler info by the way.

I have contacted the company that did the re-map but waiting for them to call me back.

I\'ll let you\'s know the outcome

sounds like you still got a boost leak somewhere. Mine did that two months after I bought it , I eventually found two boost leaks, corrected it and the hesitation disappeared.

Does sound more like a leak than anything else, if you was running lean, would not have flamage from exhaust, youve got that because it is rich and over fueling. Im sure they will get to the bottom of your problem given a chance.

Okay, just got of the phone with them, he is going to check the print out his end and get back to me if anything is obvious, I\'ve been told to put new plugs in, but it already has pretty new ones that were done with the rebuild 1600 miles ago, they are 9\'s all round, should I go 10\'s

Anybody?

Oh and does anybody have a Commander available for sale, will pay good money PM me if so

Thank once again for the input, will start hunting for a leak, it\'s not going to be easy as it\'s so bloody loud

well with the engine off, check the rubber intercooler couplings from the twin turbo pack to the crossover tube down to the intercooler and then from the intercooler to the intake elbow, you may need need to take the couplings completely off to inspect properly, there maybe slight tears hidden by the jubilee clips
