Anyone know about ford ignition. The car in question is a 94\' fiesta. You put the key in the ignition and it turns but the steering lock does not disengage and the electrics/engine do not go :(

Any ideas as the car has to go to lincoln on saturday :(

Maybe a silly question, but sometimes the key will turn a little, have you turned it and then wiggled steering wheel while turning key see if it come off and keys turns further.

could be your ignition barrel, or if none of your electrics are working it could be your fuse box!

Yup tried wiggling the key etc and the steering but the key turns pretty much all the way but does nothing :(

If its the ignition barrel is this an easy part to get hold of?

If its the ignition barrel i think ford charge around £30 for a new one but i think its got to be made so that it works with your current key :(

have you taken the cowlings off to check nothing has moved? steering lock will prob have shear head bolts on column so not easy to remove clamp, there is ways to get round the steering lock but usually involves brute force passeger seat & feet  u can guess the rest

most cars you cant turn the key past the first stop if the lock is engaged sounds like the spigot on the rear of ign barrel has come out
