I want to get a boost guage for my FD3, I think everything is running nicely now but I want the peace of mind that I can keep an eye on things. I\'ve had a quick google search and they seem to range from £25 for an unbranded to £150 for greddy and such brands.

is there much point in paying the extra? will the cheaper ones do the same job or could they be less accurate? also I noticed some specifically state they are "mechanical" whilst others aren\'t - is one preferable to the other, and if so how big is the difference? do I just need 1 guage to monitor both turbos, or will they require seperate ones?

finally, how hard will these be to fit? I have\'t done any DIY on my FD3 yet so I\'ve no idea where anything is on it, but I\'m willing to learn :)

your input is appreciated, thanks!

There not that hard to fit as long as you have a bit of patience, you will only need one boost gauge for the twin turbo\'s.

Mechanical Boost gauges are exactly that they are a mechanical gauge and all the boost mesauring is done inside the gauge so therefore the gauge has to be quite chunky, the electronic boost gauge has a sender/control unit you mount out of sight then you just wire the gauge to that, the gauge is just a means of display and has no mesuring equiptment in it that is all houses somewhere else.

I would recomend getting a ahalf decent gauge and if you only plan on putting one in the car it only needs to be a mechaninal one. (To fit this you will need a lenght of 4mm vacuum hose) I may have a apexi mechanical boost gauge for sale in about a week. E-mail me on allstaruk@yahoo.com if you interested.
