Hi guys,

Need a bit of advice with what mods to go with next - have got my hands on some cash and really want to invest it into something with no return whatsoever i.e. my RX!

Have already done the basics:

Apexi Twin induction kit
Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust - DECAT
Suspension and styling all done
Alloys, tyres etc all done

I have £4k to spend, however I am gonna keep £2k to one side for a rebuild fund and when that happens, I will get porting done at the same time. I know £2k won\'t cover it, but it is hopefully a little while away yet (touch wood!).

I am not too technical, but love the gauges etc down the driver\'s side pillar. I am also on a standard ECU.

What should I be spending my £2k on, bearing in mind it\'s my everyday drive and needs to be reliable etc. Are there any mods that will gain me a bit of power, but at the same time make it more reliable (or is that a chalk and cheese thing?).

I read on Rob Robinette\'s website that getting a metal AST fitted is a good mod to do for reliability and that a down pipe is also a good one to do. He also mentions temperature gauges etc.

Any advice appreciated.

first thing i would do is get a Apexi Power FC ECU and Commander that will set you back about £550 :D

A few mods:

Power FC - as this helps you see exactly what is going on with the car, eg if the car was going to overheat you would see this on the PFC way before the stock gauge told you.

Aluminum AST - as you said.

After market Aluminum Radiator - to keep the car running cooler.

Possible larger secondary injectors - to allow injectors not to run at max duty.

Hard pipe system.

Vented bonnet - not essential but handy.

Oil catch tank.

Thats a start matey. :)

If you have fitted induction and exhaust mods i would recommend going for an APexi PFC.

It really all depends on what sort of power you are looking for as to where you go next.

Reliability wise the aluminium ast isnt a bad idea, i have one fitted now with an aluminium radiator too, i have two plastic ast tanks split on me before i went to the aluminium...

Good luck in whatever you decide...

Yep I agree with the guys, The Apexi Power FC ECU is the best mod u can make along with it being properly mapped on a DYNO, more boost, more power, more MPG
