......to go into my garage!!!!

Got in my 3rd gen 93 rx after being away for 2 weeks and let it warm up for 5 mins before taking it for a gentle drive to the shop.

Left the shop and thought i would open her up abit to clear the cobwebs and as if by magic it runs like a bag of sh*t on throttle, heres the symptoms people!!:

*engine is warm but hasnt been driven for 2 weeks.
*apply throttle below say about a quarter and its ok up the rev range
*apply any more throttle than that in gear every gear or in neutral and she just instantly misfires ( sounds like a m/c gun! ) and pops black smoke out the back!!
* the car was fine when i left it, all fluids ok etc etc.

I need your help please on this one, thought it may be plugs but dont understand why it works at low throttle if thats the case?

I have had the car 3 months, done all the oils and coolant etc by the book, it has a apexi induction and racing beat back box and thats it.

Come to think of it the last time i drove it i did notice the slight misfire at Wide Open Throttle but found that if i feed the throttle in progressively then it reduced or eradicated the misfire!
I had a think about that and thought that the plugs needed changing as I havent done those yet and dont know their history!

Anyway thats my thought, please let me know what your thoughts are and if it could be a serious fault?
many thanx, neil.

I just spoke to Jeff at ReWorx to order some plugs and leads and just happened to mention my prob to him.

He didnt hesitate to explain that after a few questions that it was probably the Default or Limp home mode that had kicked in.

He gave me the advice to fault find and extract the code from the ecu, and also how to reset the ecu just in case it was a mistake.

I disconnected the battery and pressed the brake for 10 seconds, reconnected it and it was fine. This limp home mode may reoccur at some point if i have a real problem like a sensor down but if not then its sorted.

Bloody nice bloke and he couldnt have been more helpful. I recomend him totally!!!
Thanx Jeff!!
