All righty then ..........

My new car has the standard ECU, a de-cat pipe and those green air filters. If I want to add an electronic boost controller, will I need a new ECU, or will the old one cope for now?

I know that most go by the rule of three, but a boost controller seems more like 2 mods, as it adds a lot more stress than the avarage mod;)

Also, can the boost volume be adjusted on the FC Commander?

Cheers:wave

Fish

Depends on the make of boost controller. Some work better than others.

The Profec B appears to be one of the better ones, without spending silly money.

But yes it should work ok.

One thing to remember is that when running higher boost, you need to add fuel.

To achieve this, I would need to ..................?

grinder

to add fuel - you need the ECU to do it

therefore - you need the apexi :)

i would buy that before anything else matey

I was going to try the cheapest parts first, if I could get away with it:rolleyes:

Fish

Sorry, dont do cheap. That normally costs engines. ;)

sadgoth

really depends on what you are looking to achieve.

list of things that can be done for big power is extensive:
FMIC/water injection/charge cooler
Bigger injectors and fuel pump
uprated turbos/single (or go non-sequential)
PORTING :D
etc

what diameter is the exhaust and is it the same from manifold back?

one thing that would be a good next step would be decent gauges for oil and water temp

looks like you have most of the stage 1 stuff done, unfortunatly the next step is always more costly!

still it is something you can do in stages I\'d say sort out fueling first as then you have that in place for any future mods.

cheers
