ok guys just been to look at a fc t2 today and everything about the car is really good drove well looks good with only a tiny bit of rust, however i noticed that when shifting down into second gear it sorta grinds a bit and on the occasion it did the same going into 5th, all other gears were smooth and so was second at low speeds. is this a big problem or comon with these cars. and if it is a big deal will the gearbox on my na fc be compatible with a t2 engine. urgent responses needed.

regards

louis.

first thing would be are you doing it right. its not your familiar car so the biteing point will be different. next might be the clutch itself but not a major job.

your egi box will be next to useless with the t2 engine.

I seem to recall that Mazda used to replaced TII synchros under warrenty as there was a problem with them. Also used to be a problem with the panel vans

ok i dont think its my not being used to the car as he said it was doing it for him aswell, basically the rest of the car is really nice so it worth buying and reparing myself, should i offer less and whats the worst damage to my wallet do you think.

thanks guys

not sure on a TII box but gearbox rebuilds in my experience are usually a couple of hundred quid depending on what parts are required.
