Cheers Dave, will give that a go tonight

Hi guys,

I have just changed over my manifold and throttle body, to a ported manifold and rotaryworks throttle body and I am having a bit of an issue on idle.
The idle keeps hunting and doesn\'t settle down, all vac hoses are fine and I can\'t find an air leak also the butterflies have been removed from the manifold.
Any ideas on what I need to do to sort it? Adjust in the map at idle?

Quote from: 12at;704417stick with FD mazda corner springs - you wont have an issue!
There is no issue with the hurley seals, the only way there would be a problem is if a spring was dropped into the engine on assembly by accident, just as an oem spring would cause an issue if you dropped one into the engine without realising. It\'s just about taking due care when assembling the block.

Yes have run the engine hard, and no problems whatsoever

FD3S Efini, yes from Gloucester, owned my FD about 5 1/2 years, must admit I very rarely see any others about the area in the time I\'ve owned mine.

As regards the Hurley corner seals, if you are going to use them I would advise getting new rubber inserts for them as opposed to re-using the old ones (although you can re-use the old ones as long as they haven\'t disintegrated).

As regards to the spring coming off in the rotor housing this is one fault of the hurley seals that I have never heard of and only way I could think of this happening is if one comes off when you are assembling the engine, otherwise I would think it would be near impossible unless an apex seal or something else chipped first.

I have hurley seals throughout and I am building another couple of engines gradually for use in other projects, but would say that the only hurley seals that I will be using in them are the corner seals as I feel that there are better side and apex seals availabe (this is just my opinion).
As said I like their corner seals but that is my personal taste and many others will tell you different its just down to personal opinion.

I use them in my engine, seem to be pretty good.

I. C. E. & Electrical / Interior Heating/Aircon help
February 15, 2010, 04:16:34 PM
I did sort this in the end, and I feel a bit of a prat about the whole thing. When I investigated further my power connection had come unplugged from the motor, because the clip on the connector had broken. The motor is in the passenger footwell, I just plugged back in and all was sorted. Hope yours is something similar.

I. C. E. & Electrical / Interior Heating/Aircon help
December 03, 2009, 04:36:19 PM
The heater blowers and aircon seems to have stopped working on my FD, The blowers would not come on, and when I pressed the AC button that wouldn\'t come on either (orange light didn\'t come on as well).
Obviously with the weather getting colder I am unable to defog the windscreen and it\'s ruddy freezing, I\'ve checked the fuses under the dash and all are ok, I don\'t know where to look next. Any advice/help would be appreciated. Cheers.

General Technical / Throttle Body Coolant
September 17, 2009, 03:59:39 PM
Well this is good to know, think I will have to remove the butterflies as well then, and see how it goes. It\'s just finding a few spare minutes now to do the bloody thing.

General Technical / Throttle Body Coolant
September 16, 2009, 05:01:54 PM
It\'s on an FD, I mean the coolant feed that runs through the throttle body. I know the throttle body thermowax is submerged in this coolant.I know there is some info on Rob Robinette\'s site, but was wondering if anyone over here had done it and could share there experience with it.

General Technical / Throttle Body Coolant
September 16, 2009, 04:53:55 PM
Who on here has bypassed the throttle body on their coolant system? Does it have any benefits or issues?
It\'s just that I\'m looking at the situation from a couple of angles really, in that the coolant system  is designed to remove heat from the system, but when the coolant gets hot would it not heat up the throttle body therefore increasing air temps?
Any advice/ideas from experience would be appreciated, as it may help me make up my mind whther or not to do it.

That looks like its a monster, like that bodykit as well.
