:InLove I\'ll never tire of the sound of a rotary :cool

I was also thinking of doing this (was thinking of 12months for a full cleanup of the body, bushes etc), but was wondering what if anything you\'re doing to your engines, are they ok sat for that long?

I think I would (just need to find out what they\'re all for lol :Laugh )

Does anyone know if being a named driver on another car could count as your other policy with them?

Quote from: Ricco_04If by having different lengths and diameter\'s of exhaust you can tune an engine, why then do drag cars/bikes use large diameters with virtually no length to them?
Just a guess but drag cars/bikes have virtually no noise regulations either :Gigglemost exhausts are a compromise.  Not forgetting that exhaust manufacturers also "tune" their exhausts to make a nice noise

That\'s what I\'m thinking - the reality would be that it would sit on the street/block the drive not doing anything and costing me tax (unless I can find a tax exempt car) - the rex is already only a weekend car so another car in the household would be a pain in the ass.  Will have to see what renewal is like (was £900 last year :2eek )

Did they say the FD had to be a second car?  I tried them last year and they told me that :( would be sooo much cheaper if I could get them to quote me on classic ins

Quote from: SpeedworksJust very simple...Hot air is dense so when it exits the exhaust manifold itw ill need to pas throught the exhaust pipe. Which is, due to its size, a restriction.
Nice post :Thumbs-up however hot air is not as dense as cold air, just thought that should be corrected :)

General Technical / De-cat. Re map or not bother?
February 24, 2008, 10:22:37 AM
Quote from: rmagictasticit differs from car to car, but generally speaking if you get a good filter and dump the cat/bigger back box, you will suffer from boost spike whereby the gasses flow faster than the control loop on the stock ecu can catch it and dump excess pressure (via wastegate).

And as we know more boost needs more fuel, or in the case of the stock ecu, you will get \'Fuel Cut\', this feels like youve hit a brick wall, no power for a second then it goes back to normal.

Open your wallet get an Apexi PFC, have a map, and happy driving with more power, less fuel  etc.....

boost spike?? or just increased boost?:eek I\'m going to decat, better filter, new smic & remap my car, but I had thought that it would be ok to not fit a boost controller - or is this in fact necessary?

Quote from: TimmyIt can cause boost spikes. But is your car a uk spec? as the title of the thread suggests as they have 2 cats.
So do the jap imports only have 1 (the main cat) then? If so then is there any point in replacing the downpipe on imports?

Sorry for being OT.  Personally I wouldn\'t bother risking it, save up a few changes and do it all at once with a new ECU, the difference in pace should make the car feel really quick again :3gears-rh

General Technical / Sonar FD Rear light cluster help...
January 12, 2008, 04:34:11 PM
I worked it out in the end (well closed my eyes and hoped for the best :Laugh )

Just for reference - the new lights don\'t use the orginal connectors. You need to pull the male connectors out of the car (they literally just pull forwards out) and then the headlight just pushes into place - they don\'t slide in like the originals

Here\'s a pic of the connectors alongside originals:

Sorry to bump such an old thread but this is the problem I\'m having, how do you remove the male connectors on the body of the car - do they just pull out?  They feel like they\'re gonna break :Nono!

Would be interested in the passenger door, bonnet, wiper arms (front and back) and passenger side rear light all depending on price
