Yep thanks for that. As Clive pointed out its in low pressure area and so im going to stop drill the crack and seal it with some thing strong like epoxy glue to make sure it holds the engine mount torque. Im in the process of taking the engine out at the moment and so I'll put up some pictures of the crack when its out and what I do to it so people in future can sue this as reference.

Thanks

Hi All,

I was wondering if anybody has seen a crack on the bottom of their block radiating from one of the passenger side engine mount holes? I seem to have a problem with oil leaking from this point on my 1992 FD3s 13b engine and no matter how many times i try i just cant get it to seal and so after a good inspection last time i noticed a hair line crack from one of the bolt holes. Planning on trying again in a few weeks but this time with ultra black.

Thanks for any input.

For the ABS sensor resistance I disconnected the connectors (fronts are in the engine bay and rears are under the rear seats) and put my multimeter on resistance setting each measured in the 0.9 region which is acceptable to the manual. I haven\'t done the wheel rotation check yet but my current theory is as the light stays on with out the engine running or the vehicle moving then I can rule out the alternator and the millivolt\'s that the wheels would generate.

Today I have cycle the 3 solenoids and the ABS pump to get the air moving if any in there but still the light on. Tomos going to try the same but with somebody pumping the pedal and then going to bleed all the brakes and the clutch again to see if that works.

Could somebody let me know if their ABS light goes out with just the ignition on but engine not started after 3 or 4 seconds?

Thanks

Hi all,
After some fun antics lately I have decided to re fitted my ABS system to my 1992 FD3s and seem to have run into a problem. I have fitted the ABS pump, ABS Ecu and made up and fitted new brake lines. When I turn the ignition on the ABS light comes on and stays on and im running out of ideas.
So far I have:
Checked continuity on the Motor relay. Pass
Checked continuity on the valve relay. Pass
Checked pump is getting 12v. Pass
Checked Solenoids are getting 12v. Failed first time but found a blown 15A fuse. Replaced it then it passed.
Checked continuity of the ABS system to ground. All 3 points passed.
Checked continuity of the ABS Diode. Pass
Checked continuity of the solenoids. Pass
Checked resistance of the ABS wheel sensors. All passed.
Checked the 10A rear wiper fuses (read this could cause it). Fuse was fine.
Changed the ABS ECU.
So after all the above I’m stuck on what to try next. Any ideas?
Thanks

General Technical / FD3s Type R1 oil coolers
May 20, 2012, 07:03:19 PM
Hi all, My drivers side oil cooler got punctured so brought a second hand one to replace it. For some reason the oil pipe unions will not screw in the new cooler. Does any body know if there are different thread sizes for different years and models of FD3s? All the brackets are the same as the one I am replacing so is definitely the correct one.

General Technical / Clutch or Gearbox problem
March 14, 2010, 08:14:44 PM
Thanks guys for the advice, I had another good look today and defo no leaks from the cluch system. And like Clive said if i was loosing pressure then the clutch would slowly engage and i would go shooting down the road or the engine would stall.

So its gearbox rebuild time and with my first track day in 4 weeks it should be interesting.

Thanks all

General Technical / Clutch or Gearbox problem
March 13, 2010, 04:04:18 PM
Hi Guys,

I seem to be having an issue with my FD3. When the engine is off I can get all 5 forward gears and reverse easily, when the engine is running I can’t get 1st or reverse but can get 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. I phoned up a gearbox specialist and enquired into how much a rebuild would be as I have never been 100% happy with the shifting of gears. He listened to the problem I was having and he said it’s my clutch that’s the problem, its not disengaging the engine enough from the gearbox to get those two gears. I thought this was strange as I had an Exedy twin plate clutch fitted 3000 miles ago. Today I bled the Clutch system thinking there might be a bubble that’s got trapped but this did nothing really. So I started the car up and let it idle up to temp in neutral, after about 10 mins I started getting 1st but still no reverse. I checked to see if the master cylinder had gone by putting it into 1st and leaving the clutch depressed to see if it slowly started moving but after 5 mins it had not. I got my brother to pop out and push my car backwards and in doing so I could get reverse but when stationry I couldn\'t.

Has anybody had this before? Im still thinking the gearbox needs a refresh.

Any ideas?

Thanks for looking.

Anything Engine/Performance/Tuning related / Fuel setup
December 19, 2009, 04:47:31 PM
Hi guys,

Im going to upgrade my fuel system as its not flowing enough fuel for above 7000rpm. I currently run a denso 280lph supra pump which the car and FPR is setup for. My question is if i fit a swirl pot and Bosche 044 inline pump using the existing pump as a lifter, will i need to get the fuel map tweeked for the increased flow produced by the new pump or will the FPR keep things as was before?

Thanks for looking

June 03, 2009, 06:34:44 AM
Hi guys,

Just rebuilding my engine at the mo and just fitted the oil metering pump on the side of the block. Should there be gap at the top like the one in the photo?

Thanks

General Technical / Help changing diff mounts
October 29, 2007, 04:52:57 PM
Hi guys,

Im struggling a tad trying to get the nuts of the top of the diff that hold the mount bracket on. Iv dropped the exhaust and got the diff mount bolts off, the diff has dropped about 6 inches so i can get my hand up round the back and get a ring spanner on.

How have people done this in the past as there is not alot of space?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Im trying to get some poly diff mounts for my FD3 and i think iv found some. The discription is \'rear diff to cross member bush\'.

Does this sound like the right one?
