General Technical / Re: Restoring old interior plastics.
November 26, 2017, 10:01:27 AM
Hi Marcus

I found the best method is to sand all the parts smooth, can be painstaking doing it by hand but yields best results. An orbital will work but make sure you keep it moving so it doesn’t melt the part with the heat. Once sanded off move up in grit on the sandpaper just to minimise any large scratches left by the coarser grit. Once that’s done wash the part in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. But a high quality plastic primer, of your part has minor imperfections get a high build primer so that you can build a nice layer and sand down any high sports to fix the imperfections. After a few coats of this, wet sand with 600. Clean and dry. Then a apply a high quality ‘texture’ paint. Gives the nice crinkly oem look. Few coats and done. You can leave like this if you like the Matt look. If not find a nice clear lawyer with uv protection and finish off.

Hey guys

Just putting wiring into a bare shell I have and I was wondering if someone could tell me where the door lock timer relay goes.
I've got the dash harness installed, where the clutch and brake switch wires are located on this harness there's a white plug which is the connection
for the door lock timer wiring. The wiring is fairly long so I assume it routes over to the passenger side somewhere but I'm unsure where it goes.

Any help appreciated.

Sorry bud only irons :(

Hey guys

So a change in circumstances means I need to free up some cash :(

I'm selling the following which I bought for my project, all items brand new, never used.

Both Warner EFR 8374 turbo with 1.05 A/R twin scroll hotside EWG model - Comes in original box, with all original packaging, leaflets, documentation and receipt. I also bought the genuine BW fitting kit for this which cost £80 which I'm including.

Turblown FD3S twin scroll manifold with dual wastegate flanges - cost me $900 which isn't including shipping and customs!

2x turbosmart compgate 40 wastegates. Both brand new in their boxes, RRP - £280 each!

So as you can see the value of this little bundle is around the £3,000 mark.....I'm asking for only £2,100 which give or take is 1k off retail value.
Let my misfortune become your gain.

07454893408 drop me a call or txt for pics/info. Thanks

Hey Figured it out, it was the rear defroster wire.....pillows out an old dash harness I had in the shed and plugged in the plug at the end where the yellow wire was still attached and it matched on the male plug which ran to rear defroster so all figured out. Thanks for the help boosted hope, your feeling better.

Thanks for checking, I think the 92-95 ecu pins are 2 row and 96+ Are 4 row? I looked  at a picture of a power fc ecu for 96 onwards and has the same plug shape as the one I'm working on. Pre 96 were 2 row with the yellow plugs. Jdm model aside there isn't even any information or pinouts for USDM cars 96 onwards it's like these manuals never existed. So I'm literally trying to find pics online of an ecu plugged in to see if I can see the pin location for this but no luck at all.

Thanks  :13:

Thanks for checking, yeah they are virtually impossible to find,
that's why I was hoping a forum member with a late spec FD could
take a look at their ecu or take a pic of the back of the plug for me.

I didn find a pinout online however is just says the wire function not the colour
so that's no help at all :(

Hi boosted

No idea of specific year, got the harness in a Joblot but it's definitely 96+.

No tracer wire it's just solid yellow with what appears 2 light blue blobs on the wire as you can see in the pic.

I'm not 100% sure but I think this is the first plug that goes into the ecu. It's part of the main front U shaped harness
that goes round the whole engine bay and goes inside the car both sides.

Thanks :)

Hey guys

Working on a front harness for an FD and the ecu plug
On the harness has this yellow wire hanging out. Trying to find out which pin it goes to. If someone has a late spec Rx7 could you have a look and
see where it goes. If not if anyone knows what this wire does that will be good info too.

Thanks

No relay for the rear wiper circuit. Bad motor or bad ground.

Items For Sale / FD3S intermediate and rear irons SCRAP
November 14, 2016, 09:51:55 PM
As title

The rear plate has a touch of corossion by the inner seal next to coolant passage.

Intermediate plate has a scratch on the face, could be lapped and maybe used but I think it might be too deep to save.

So selling as scrap perfect for porting practice £80 for both. Txt for pics of damage.

Pickup from Watford herts.
