I tired these guys for my 20B FD3 from a recommendation on here and got a very competitive price compared to Sky Insurance who also offered what I thought was a good price! Sky have done me proud before and I was a bit reluctant about Need 2 insure as I have not heard of them before.. Seems like they are doing a few FD'3 then.. Anyone had to claim and had any problems? all very well they might give good prices but do they pay out if a claim is ever needed?

Joined! Clive please can you let me know how we go about the valuation and how soon you can get around to it please. I am looking to arrange cover in the next week or two so hopefully you can squeeze it into that as I would love to have something other than my hunch to go back to the insurers with.

So I spoke with potential insurers today and actually got a quote with a few things still ta of course. I was pleasantly surprised! The company I might go with is Sky Insurance as they did my last car. I have found them and A-plan to be best over the years. I will give them a bell too and maybe look up the people Linas suggested. So Sky insurance would get me a policy with Market Study who also did the cover on my last few cars. I mainly phoned up to ask about what the need in the form of a valuation and they pretty much said they wouldn't take much notice. The underwrite would deiced what it was worth and we would agree or disagree. They asked for build details and when I said it was documented online they said they would go through the build and I could send them a list of mods and give them a ball park value to work to.. 10mins later they were back with what I think will be a very hard to beat quote. but lets see. All that aside i think I will take Clive up on a valuation just to know for me where someone else with an eye for that sort of thing would put it. then I can either try for higher cover or drop accordingly.

Sorry.. Misread that somehow!! Thanks guy's.. I will speak to the insurance company tomorrow and see what they say I need for that side.. proof etc.. or if a written valuation will suffice.

Well I built the car myself! but cost of building something is not necessarily what it is valued at? Or is it? I thought it would be based on the sale value of the car which could be a whole different ball game! A 20B in general would cost much more than £25K I imagine if you sent it to a shop to do! Do you have a 20B or did Clive build you something else Linas?
Clive What is membership these days? Although I am sure I can find a thread on that!

Okay.. What would a valuation from you cost as a one off? I will speak to the insurance and see what they say. My build is pretty well documented online.. Most parts are ebay/online purchases so I have some form of bill via e-mails if that counts plus a spreadsheet I have kept track with. Obviously the base car and engine would cost considerably more in today's market than I got them for a few years ago. That would be the main cost. I was assuming somewhere in the region of £25k maybe. Would certainly like another opinion. I know a guy in the US sold his last year for $55K USD. I think that was luck but then they are even rarer here than over there!? Tough one. Also more of a feared engine over here!

Okay.. always an interesting subject as it partly comes down to what people are willing to pay.. but it is getting time to insure my beast for the road and I will have to put a value on it. I am interested to know what peoples thoughts are on the value of a 20B convert FD3 in the current market.  I don't think too many have been sold in the UK which makes it tricky! I think maybe Mir20B sold his a while ago but not sure if it broke instead or what?

Hi There, Do you have any scrap FD Rotor housings. All I am after is the exhaust sleeve form one. but I gather they are a bit of a bitch to get out! Let me know if you can help.

Hi Guy's I need some help from the rotary community. I am rebuilding my motor and need a dead 13B housing form an FD to get the exhaust sleeve out. Can anyone will to part with a dead housing or that has a sleeve around please let me know.

Hi Guy's thanks for info.. The dip in rpm is quite minimal when the loads are switched on. it is more the drag down on the voltage which effects the injectors I think as the ECU does not have proper voltage compensation. bit of both though for sure. I was going to raise the idle a bit to try and help but I don't think that alone will solve the issue. Also when you put the loads on the rpm normalises after a few seconds so to try and set idle that way would be quite a trick.
Fuel pump wise I have one of those neat new walbro 450lph ones... Well will see if it keeps up when I get it wound up on the dyno!

So guy's, I have a idle control issue with my microtech ECU where it is essentially a bit basic and does not have some quite key functions. So I want to try and plug something in to create a work around for the main issue I currently have. That is poor idle due to voltage drop when any electrical loads are applied such as fans.
The work around I want is this. I want a wire something in off the back of the alternator or any other 12V wire I guess that reads the voltage which under normal running will be around 14.2 volts with a good battery. if the voltage temporarily drops down to say 13.8V when a load is switched on I then want this to flip a switch which will allow a 12v supply to be sent to an input on the ECU. Then when the voltage picks back up the switch will flip back and close off the 12v source to the ECU. I hope that makes sense. I think this should also only happen when at idle so I guess that means wiring a microswitch onto the throttle pedal or throttle body that is on/off when the throttle is closed.
Can anyone advise if there is any off the shelf item that will do this or if I need to make something and if so what components am I looking at?
One other thing is ideally I want to be able to adjust the voltage that the switch flips at in order to fine tune the point at which this needs to happen.
