Quote from: rico2k_ukno, its the other way around, they work harder to recompress all the air in the system, without the bov, the air is still compressed in teh system when needed so less work is needed.. :)

doesnt matter, you get a big turbo, a little lag difference from bov or no bov wont be noticable! :D

But all that compressed air is heading back towards your turbo because your throttle is shut, forcing  pressure on the turbo to send that air back towards the inlet :Hammer . Anyway no blow off or dump valve is going to vent all the air in the system so so its not going to take long to re-compress.

Quote from: rico2k_ukit does hurt performance, basically becasue you are blasting all the compressed air out of the system into the atmosphere - takes some power to create it using the turbos! :D

But venting to atmosphere reduces turbo stall, in turn when you get back on the gas the turbo has to do less to spool back up to full boost. Just fitted an HKS copy to mine which not only sound excellent but has made the car even less laggy than it was (T78 single) :3gears-rh

General Technical / Help! cant re-fill coolant!!

Quote from: ro284Did your chappie drain the plug on the block? i do that and notice it takes a little while for it to fill, well a bit longer than normal but i wanted to change all the water and replace with the good stuff and a good anti, any luck yet?
Bob

Got it sorted late afternoon yesterday, don\'t want to be doing that too often.
Had to put another 1/2 litre of coolant in this morning coz the buzzer was going mad but I think it just takes time for it to get through the whole system. Cheers for everyone\'s advice

General Technical / Help! cant re-fill coolant!!

Quote from: RobbieRX-7The best and most effective way to do it is...Pull the hose of the back of the throttle body, remove the cap off the ast by the power steering pump, use a funnel or half a coke bottle and seal it against the filler neck, quickly pour the water in and this pushes the air out the system. When water comes out the ast, replace cap and when water is constantly flowing from the removed hose, it is pretty much bled. Keep an eye because the add coolant buzzer may come back on

Right, just given it a go. Only managed to put a bit more coolant (less than 4 litres) in the system before it p1ssed out of the AST. has anyone got a piccy of the hose that goes behind the throttle body? I\'ve disconnected a small coolant hose but that didn\'t seem to make any difference  . Is it worth starting her up to see if it\'ll run it through a bit more? One of our guys here spoke to RE worx who say it can take up to 4 hours but helpfully didn\'t say how to do it!!

General Technical / Help! cant re-fill coolant!!

Hello peeps,
May seem like a stupid question but how do you get the coolant back into the system after a drain? I work at a Toyota dealership & asked one of our techies to do a coolant change so he emptied the old, attempted to refill using his coolant gun connected to an air line which should remove the air from the system but it doesn\'t seem to want to go through. He\'s re filling through the middle filler which I think is correct, but every time he attempts to fill it the coolant just blows back out.
He is a very competant mechanic but this is making him feel like a first day apprentice, is there a special technique coz I\'ve read on the "how to\'s"that you just fill, run the engine & repeat until it\'s full, tried this as well but to no avail :spank

Any help guys would be greatly appreciated :)

Quote from: gsb876Hi Chris,

Clutch was completely fine when i had the car so very sorry to hear of your woes buddy, i only sold the car as wanted a change nothing was wrong with it that i knew of.

As for the clutch make sure the Single plated one can handle the power output, does it have a guideline as to power capability as you dont want a weaker clutch as wont last as long. On the good side though at least it will be better at pulling off than the twin plate version,

Gurj :cool

Hey Gurj,
It\'s just one of those things. The car is still amazing even sitting on my drive, just want to make sure I get it back on the road in time for Rotorstock. I think the Hyper single should be fine for that kind of power as from reading other threads it seems a few guys are running 400+ horses with the same unit. By the way I\'ve also ordered a Scoot carbon bonnet from Lisa as well so it should look awesome come August :Thumbsup!
Cheers, Chris

Quote from: ianelvarI spoke to RB and they were very helpful. You can work out what you\'ve got just by looking at it, measuring a few things, then ringing them - that\'s all I had to do.
Nice one, not sure wot to do now tho coz the exedy unit is paid for & on its way. Think i\'m commited to going the single plate route now but thanks for the advice
Cheers, Chris.

Quote from: 20B_boyRB usually have the rebuild kits in stock, then its a case of just swapping old bits for new bits...

It does sound like a plan but I dont know what grade/model OS Giken Ive got in the Rex :2Confused

Quote from: ianelvarYes, if your new clutch is pull type you\'ll need to change the release mech bolted to the box back to the stock setup.

Thanks mate, so what parts would that involve, would you know??

Quote from: ChriszxHey peeps,
Not posted much on here since buying my Rex (Gurj\'s old purple T78 from a chap on the IOW), mainly coz two weeks afta buying it the clutch is knackered. Not overly happy but that\'s the luck of the draw I guess.
Anyway, it\'s got an OS Giken twin plate in at the mo which I know is rebuildable but I\'m not going to bother doing, so Iv\'e ordered an Exedy hyper single from Lisa @ shy auto. My question is - knowing that the OS Giken is a push type clutch do I need anything else to make the Exedy single plate fit??
I.E do I need a pull type fork to make the new clutch fit??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)
Thanks in advance,
Chris :guinness :guinness

BUMPY. Wolud really appreciate any input peeps as Ive booked it in to have the clutch done next tuesday at my workplace. I dont really want to have it stripped out to find I need more parts coz there doing as a favour
Thanks, Chris.
