Quote from: Timmy;551592All the policy i\'ve seen require the vehicle to be insured with it\'s own policy. And if they didn\'t you wouldn\'t be able to leave the car till you have it off public roads.
Also i think it is to stop people buying one car and insuring it fully comp than driving around in another on your third party insurance.

thats a common mis-conception. another insurance policy running on the vehicle will be ineffectual if the driver is using the 3rd party extension. it is true that an insurance policy will be required for leaving the vbehicle as the 3rd party extension only covers the car while its being driven.

however they dont have to both be inplace. its highly advisable to it tho!

this is another reason why the cover is being pulled, as its pretty confusing to know who is covering what, etc.

its majoritivly 25. some companies may do it for younger people, but its unlikely for the exact reason you want it. most companies are now starting to remove the cover all together because it is such a huge risk for insurance companies. Basically its only designed for emergency use to borrow someones car briefly, however people use it to drive other cars all the time. With this, the insurer is responsible for cars they dont even know about! Its one of many reasons why premiums are so high these days.

Remember (this is what people forget) if you have the cover, its only to cover 3rd party only on a car that is not registered in your name. The car doesnt need to have insurance elsewhere at the same time, but does need to be road legal - tax/tested. (it doesnt need insurance as your 3rd party cover is doing that. while your not driving it, its not your responsibility anyway!)

best thing to do is because of your age is to speak to insurance brokers rather then companies directly.

third party extension. comes with full comp policies if you are the policy holder and over 25. check your insurance scheduale to confirm you have it as not all companies do it any longer.

guess the best way is just remove the silicon hose from the t-piece? will keep the bov going (and hopefully it will make more of a noise now!)

hi all, sorry to rebump an old thread, but just wanting to know - where is the starter motor located, and how to you remove it? can it be done on axle stands without removing much else? cheers!

3rd generation RX-7's / uim pipe hoses
May 17, 2008, 12:46:42 PM
hi all, rebuilt the car, and its running nicely, although smoky - will need to drive it around to clear out all the oil...

anyway, when hooking everything up, i think everything is in the right order, except for one hose.

on the uim by the air intake pipe (opposite side of the turbos) at the front there are 2 nipples for hoses. i have got one put on, but i have a spare hose sitting around and a spare nipple. i would normally put them together, but the hose seems to be bigger then the nipple, as the pip that it connects to (and the 1 way valve) is larger in diametor.

can someone post a pic of the hose connectors to make sure i got them all in correctly?

also, off topic, but how do i know if i have too much oil in the car now? should i just go by the dipstick (which is really crap in seeing how much is in it!!)

got the rx working today!! but cant go as working :\'(

actually its both ends! they are second hand tubbies, but there in very good nick. i noticed loads of oil around the whole turbo area when changine the turbos - was because the other ones blew quite impressivly!

just took it up and down the road, and there is loads of white smoke when using the throttle. im guessing still burning out all the oil residue out the entire length of the exhaust? was a huge amount!

well, there aint much fuel in there, but loads in the rotars!! took the bottom two sparks our (what a ****ing job!) and got the misses to turn the engine with the egi thinggie out. ****ing ehll - there was loads!!!

anyway, scrubbed them clean as some deposits on them, but they are spotless - no marks or anything, just some carbon soot!

car then started up pretty easily, and poured a **** load of oil out the back! managed to spray a couple of passing kids with the stuff lol!!! thankfully it was just the stuff that came out the old turbos.

so car is running a little rough at the moment, but it does need a good while idleing really. have topped up the collant as the buzzer did go off for a split second. keeping a close eye on that one, as the tubbies are filling up as well as with the oil.

only thing is, the tubbys that are now in there seems to be smoking - do you think its just residual gunk on the outside of it? i cant see any leaks, as have now sucessfully managed to get the car to move up the driveway. going to leave it there for a bit to see if any new leaks appear, etc.

ah, have loads of gearbox oil too, so will try that?

yeah, battery was low, have charged last night, and tried again, almost catches, but then dies. will get the sparks out just now and refurb them. they have probably been sitting in petrol/oil for a while

tried to get a new set of sparks today, but no one stocks them! can get them cheap, but i have to order 10 at a time :(

anyone know if rx8 ones will work if the car is just used as a runaround, with no hard driving? (off chance really!)

right, will try and take them out today... got clutch fluid that will probably do the job right? i know the car will be caked in old oil/fuel on the rotars, as when the turbos failed, obviously the turbo oil went everywhere...

god dam it! i want to get the noise back!!!! its a nightmare not being able to scare little children and old grannies (as well as annoy the neighbours!!!) ;)
