1994 FD

Drove to put some fuel in the car tonight, started it up on the forecourt, turned the lights on and they both keep going up and down constantly. Both popups are in sync and the correct speed, as well as both bulbs working and coming on and off as the lights extend and retract.

The only way I could get round it (eventually) was to extend the lights using the dash switch, then turn them lights on using the stalk. That only works about 50% of the time thought. Sometimes by just using the dash switch they go up and down by themselves too.

Will have a look tomorrow if the weathers ok, but just thought I\'d put it out there, see if anyone had similar?

Cheers.

JASMA isn\'t a manufacturer.. it\'s just a stamp - much like an E-Mark that proves the exhaust was made to certain specifications regarding noise levels and other such criteria.

If there are no other brand names, or labels, then Kakimoto\'s are 017 I believe.

Quote from: a.tapos;781615Turbo play should be the same in all direction as (up and down left and right) it is alot but not knackered as it doesnt seem to have touched housing, possible rebuild, you may find the turbo failure is the hotside/exhaust side of the turbo so hard to see which may explain your hole, does it run as it might have thrown a tip?

Idle is solid so I doubt I\'ve thrown a tip. I\'ll have the turbo\'s out of the car tomorrow, whip the manifold off and check the block/manifold gaskets there too while I\'m at it.

I think mine have died.

I was accelerating though 6000rpm, 0.7bar when there was a bang. It sounded like a loud exhaust pop but much further towards the front. My exhaust suddenly sounded like it was blowing through a hole in the midpipe, and a screeching noise from the turbo on boost. Thought I\'d blown a gasket but the sound was too metallic, too noisy and quite worrying.

Got the car up on the axle stands today, to find not only a hole in my midpipe (Easily replaced) but also on visual inspection some very minor damage to the turbo blades, as well as more movement than I\'d expect when subjected to up/down/left/right motion. The rear turbo has minor play, nowhere near this much however.

No in/out play at all in either, so I was wondering if the excessive movement is because there is no oil pressure keeping the shaft central - or whether they are totally broken. I\'ll admit, I can rebuild a rotary engine, I know how a turbo works, but I don\'t know if mine is shafted or not. :xconfused

any thoughts? pics and vid to follow....

There\'s a black FD in Lincoln yeah - Don\'t think it\'s stock though, when I spoke to his mate about it I think he said it was running some fairly hefty power.

Do you have a RX? Not seen any others apart from my silver one and the black one.

Awesome.. I was amazed when I reinsured my FD this year for £312 with Footman James. Made getting mine back on the road much easier.

Limitied mileage policy\'s are best IMO, I pay £312 fully comp with Footman James (I\'m 29) - all mods declared on a 3000 mile per year deal. (1994 FD). Peter best only insures modded RX7\'s from the age of 30, so i\'d try them.. they usually come pretty competitive.

:wave

Gave you a quick wave while I was parked in traffic outside the train station.. Ironic that I don\'t see a FD in Lincoln for ages, the day I get mine back on the road and within 5 minutes I see you!

Undo the screws and slide the rear lights out to the side

Possibly the ugliest RX7 I\'ve ever seen.

Quote from: sickboy2345;528104just noticed ur last post Matt, thx for the info, p[lease keep us updated as id like to know how it works :) if it does , then it will be my next thing to do :]

First 100 miles of the run-in, while in no way conclusive as I\'m not using any boost and it\'s all under 3000rpm, it\'s still pleasing. Varying speeds and traffic conditions.

I\'ve not had more than 22 degrees on the open road. This morning coming to work It was a rock steady 19 degrees for the whole 21 mile journey. The highest I\'ve seen is 29 on start up from a 10 minute rest at the shell fuel station which obviously will be the heatsoak from the rad below. Going through the center of town it dropped steadily to 24, then again to 22 by the time I got home (5 miles)

I\'ll be interested to see how it handles boost and the heat generated, but i\'ll update then when I start upping the revs.
