Old school Mazda's / Repair Panels
October 04, 2006, 11:38:24 AM
I need to replace the rear arches on my 1975 929 coupe (same as RX4) but i\'m really struggling to find some repair panels anywhere, does anyone know if any of the other mazda\'s had a similar rear arch lip? 626 / montrose? or anything like that? or know ofanywhere that might have some parts in stock?

Cheers,
Mike :)

Sorry Mike but as of 1/3/06 non-members are now not allowed to post their e-mail address due to a decision made at the AGM unless they are selling in the for sale section .

Yesterday, me and one of my friends went on a 14 hour trip to rescue this, it was offered for sale by a banger racer as being too good to race, so thought i\'d best take it upon myself to save it :)

It needs the rear arches sorting, and a few little bits, and the interior sorting, but overall its good n solid :D

Cheers for the replies gents,
It looks like the rings have gone on mine, when i got it it was smoking loads, billowing the stuff out! i\'ve had the head off and it looks like someones been in before, theres pools of oil sat on top of the pistons, and the rad hose seems to have been leaking, and there\'s the rusty hue of radiator water allover the engine bay..
I reckon it\'s been overheated, the folk who had it before have thought its cooked the head gasket, theyve been in and changed it, not solved the problem and flogged it on..
This is where i\'m up to now!

Ska, is there any reason your mechanic thinks your engine isnt worth bothering with? have you had any trouble with it? or was a rotary planned all along?
How much would you be after for it?

Thanks,
Mike :Thumbs-up

Anyone able to help? i\'ve got the head off the engine in my B1800 and all is not well, the engine is a VC code 1800 petrol (piston) 1769cc

I know the obvious choice is to go rotary but space is very tight in the engine bay due to the suspension sticking so far in...

So.. does anyone know what other mazda piston engines (not a V, i\'ve measured the one in my 323F and it just wont happen...) have the same bolt pattern for the gearbox as the VC code 1.8? i dont really want to have to change the box as its column change and has a bench seat...

Any help much appreciated guys  :)

Thanks,
Mike

*edit* its  1978 B1800*

Hi Mike :)

Its unbelievably good! the chassis looks mint, and the bodywork is none too bad either, theres a few little patches but nothing that wont sort...

Engine wise it smoked like a good \'un! got the head off now though, so a new set of valve stem seals should hopefuly sort it  :cool

plans are to wave the stick at it, the rear shouldnt be too hard, going to remove a few of the leaves and add some lowering blocks, the front is on springs which suprised me as i thought it\'d be torsion bar... so i\'m going to remove the springs and chop the bumpstops till its at a suitable height, then get some stiffer springs made up in the right length :)

ill chuck some pics up when i get back home  :cool

i would guess the easiest way to rotorise it would be to get a cheap gen2 rx7 and use the engine box and rear axle from that?

unfortunately i want to keep the column shift box and need it to be fairly cheap to insure as its going to be my girlfriends first car!
