I so hope it\'s true, but we\'ve had so many "announcements" of an impending new RX that I won\'t believe anything until there is a formal Mazda statement and a "real" prototype on show to the public!

Agree, the only REAL news about the rotary future was from current Japan CEO about 8 months ago who said unless there is a case and to sell 100,000 units a year then it wont happen.

I would love to see an all new RE ONLY, but I just cant see how it is viable, let alone all the new fuel/emission standards for 2017.

When the rx8 came out all of the running gear, from what I heard, bolts straight up Into the mx5 that came out at the same time, as mazda intended to offer the mx5 with the renesis motor but pulled out towards production time.

Has everyone seen mad mikes new drift machine? Mx5 - 1000kg - 1000hp? Oh yes!!!

Huh, RX-8 was born in 2003, NC or MK3 was 2005.
And yes many parts will swap OK and many won\'t without a lot of cutting/welding.

Mazda has not used a 5 speed Auto, the current NC MX-5 and last RX-8\'s from 2006 are 6 speed.

Please don\'t believe this BS, there is still no sound business case for ANY all new RE ONLY Mazda. A 28 MPG just wont sell.

OK Lets compare a banana with a turnip, the similarity is that is grows in soil..

The NC MX-5 and the FE,SE RX-8 use a totally different CAN BUS system...undertand that first and it is impossible....let alone IDS compatibility.

ECU/PCM, Immobilizer, Speedo Head, DSC,TCM, Air Bag Modules, all interface together, particularly first 3.

Now having said that if you wast a total abortion of a set up with almost nothing working and constant CEL\'s (DTC Codes) go right ahead.

Forget it...it won\'t work.

I checked with Pip (WGT) on this issue. He has now rebuilt the engine and said there was no extra wear at the middle of the Apex seal, the original seals had worn down evenly. They were replaced anyway and the engine cleaned up. With that info, I\'m happy with direct injection at a higher rate. A washer bottle will be used for this oil with a fill-level warning so I can top up when it runs low without having to check the oil on every fill up.

All the mechanical parts are done, ducting for oil coolers and undertray is done, ECU is being wired up and final fit is happening right now with tuning/debugging due over the next two weeks. One little problem is finding a tach gauge that goes above 9000rpm.

You must have been lucky, I have many engine picks showing concaved Apex Seals in Renny 1\'s, that is why Mazda added a middle injector in Series 2\'s..not enough Oil getting there.

OH, yeah, a Tacho over 9000, did not think of that...tried eBay?

I had looked into that but WGT recommended just upping the injection rate using the EOMP controller.

Is it reasonable to do a compromise where the oil would just be injected into the fuel tank or fuel lines instead. I\'d rather have an automatic solution than have to get oil out on every fill up.

Regarding porting, WGT are just cleaning up the existing ports rather than making them any bigger.

Sorry for the late response, upping the injection rate still does not get oil to the middle of the Apex Seal.
Pre-Mix is the only and easiest way, unless you use S2 Rotor Housings, etc, etc, etc.

Oh Yes, there have also seen a few Renny\'s Bridge Ported..
One in South Africa, the other still in progress USA.

DON\'T DO IT.... the guy in South Africa has gone back to stock after engine in/out 5 times.
Bridge has to be perfect, Apex Seal has to be One Piece.....and LUCK.

I know no one who has been successful, yes you can fiddle with the exhaust port a bit...not worth it.

YES, I thoroughly recommend you Pre-Mix if you are using Series 1 RENESIS, remember they have NO Centre (Middle) Oil Weeper Nozzle (via MOP), Series 2 Does (2009~).
ALL other Rotaries made in the past 25 years have had a middle Nozzle, except RX-8 Series 1.

Part of the many engine failures have been because of poor compressions because Apex seals are wearing because of next to Zero Metered Oil getting to the middle of Apex Seal.

There is a Guy in Australia who has and IS installing a Renny into a NC 2005 MX-5.

OK, there are a few guys who have attempted the fitting of Series II or R3 LED Tail Lamps...they are Not a simple Bolt on...

The Guy in the Yellow RX-8 shows the large gap under the LED..

The Grey RX-8 shows how the LED sticks out the bottom without any modifications.

The First PIC shows the area\'s that need cutting out (yellow) and realignment of the fixing holes.

So, there you go....not a simple install..and at about $1000.00 each...
