RX-8 News and Information / Rx-8 Road Tax ?
January 21, 2009, 11:18:56 PM
Quote from: clive;576827In theory we have lost a lot of money however you only lose the money if your selling and as we have no intention of selling we have lost nothing
Thats the kinda thinking we need. All too easy to focus on the what ifs and forget what we really do have.

RX-8 News and Information / Rx-8 Road Tax ?
January 20, 2009, 03:49:26 PM
Wow. is it me or is the price of a RX8 comparable to the price of an FD... except the Fd is cheaper to run on a daily basis?

Keeping my 8 for the moment as I still need a car when I do pop back to the UK to visit but a lil worried what I\'ll get when I eventually decide to sell it. Shame as its probably the best car I\'ve owned.

RX-8's / RX8 Modifications
October 03, 2008, 01:35:29 AM
Excellent. Both very nice. Good to see that RX8s in the UK are beginning to be modded. Finally catching up to the JDM and stateside crowds.

I have so many things I want to do with my 8 but I really can\'t justify it to myself. I only drive it for less than 2mths a year.

Sigh... real catch22 for me. Live n work in the uk and be too poor to even put fuel in my 8 or work over seas and have more than enough cash to buy any mod I could want & foot the fuel bill but never get a chance to drive it...

Taken to comforting myself by saying, investing in driver training is more valuable than any mod out there... not working too good convincing myself thou:p

Can\'t say I\'m supprised. But then again gotta look at both sides of the coin I suppose. As for some reason engine mounts and clutch isn\'t covered by Mazda under warranty??? I assume their warranty is pruely engine only. At least for us in the UK, what few years the warranty lasts for it apples to the whole car.

As quoted from rotary news,

Additionally, Mazda will extend this eight year/100,000 mile warranty retroactively to all existing 2004-2008 model year RX-8s â€" again, to show their support of the longevity of the engine.

Was part of the release that came with the launch of the R3 model RX8. Thou the article seemed to purely reflect life on the other side of the pond. Just wondering if having the same implimented over in the UK would be too much to ask Mazda for. That is if they aren\'t already doing it? Anyone know?

RX-8 News and Information / RX8 vs 350Z on Fifth Gear
August 20, 2008, 01:40:51 AM
Quote from: RX8Head;525673Yep 228 vs 309 but a superchanger can add an easy 80bhp :Thumbs-up.

As much as 228! My hi power barely squeezes 208. Always sick of car comparisons when it comes to the 8. I love the wheels off my 8 but sadly it really isn\'t a powerful car. Only come back I can throw at the Z is I wanna see it take an 8 on a tight winding track. Pretty confident the 8 could claw in the win there.

Welcome :) Noticed quite a few people buying the 190 lately. Just wondering what your reasons were, curious is all. Nice to see people still buying 8s. Every where I look people seem to be selling em off:(

Man u got a 2, a 7 and an 8... And you got the 8 in yellow!!! That colour is SO hard to find. Spent 3 months looking for a yellow with no joy had to settle for blue...

Very nice collection:D Hope there are some good roads where you are, especially with all that cheap fuel :)

Welcome aboard :) Sadly I dont believe there are any roof racks for the RX8. There might be in the future but as yet they seem to be hens teeth:( But take heart. Man has been to the moon and back, so i\'m sure making a roof rack for the rx8 is firmly within the realms of possiability :)

Was It You I Spotted? / White/black FD near peterborough
September 03, 2007, 04:14:20 AM
Was on the way back from Serpentine Green Tescos, heading toward Ramsey St Marys yeasterday afternoon (2nd, Sunday) Spotted a white FD with a black Scoot bonnet and Black GT wing. Was too busy ogleing the car and just remembered to wave at the very last moment. Think the driver noticed and waved back :) I was in a Blue RX8 with a orange sun visor.

Was It You I Spotted? / Grey RX8 @ Warboys
August 20, 2007, 05:33:47 PM
Was on my way to Fensport this afternoon @3. Was doing a quick U turn on the A141 close to Warboys. Had a grey RX8 flash me, I waved backed and the female driver also very enthuastically waved back. Guess Like me she knows RX8 owners next to never acknowledge other rotaries on the road. Ended up following her all the way till a roundabout at Chatteris.

Lots of distincitive features on this 8 so no need to divulge the plate number. Was a personalised reg, with a small front plate mounted on the front lip. Just below the rear plate a sticker with a story about having 200 odd miles to Le mans and wearing dark glasses. Also a rotor sticker on the rear window on the R/H corner.

Insuring your rotary / Limited useage insurance?
June 04, 2007, 10:07:22 PM
That is wierd... maybe its your post code pulling you down? Know that can be a big factor on quotes. But then again it could be purely cos its a FD, whereas mine is a weak ol RX8...

Insuring your rotary / Limited useage insurance?

think 6k is the min Admarial said they will do it for.

Will try A-Plan, they sound interesting, I assume that they insure the car with like for like replacements on aftermarket stuff?

Also will give AON a go, cheers Clive ;)

Insuring your rotary / Limited useage insurance?

Basically, I barely use my stock RX8 hi power. I live and work overseas for a good 11months a year. And am back in the UK for roughly a month every year. Which is the only time I get to drive my RX8 about. Rest of the year it is kept securely locked up in my mums garage.

At the moment i\'m with admaral with 3 years NCBs, no points and milage limited to 6k per year. And am getting charged roughly £500, fully comp. Unfortunately I cant go 3rd party as they say my car\'s value is too high.

Was just wondering if there was any comapnies who could give me a lower insurance quote seeing as how my car is barely on the road.
