Great reply, just the answers I was hoping for lol.

Where can I get hold of the Steering Lock Spacers, Rear Steer Elimination parts mate?

Cheers!

Oh. and are there any easy power upgrades available? Would an air filter and straight through exhaust be ok on an N/A without having to mess with the ECU etc? They are around 148bhp I believe, is that right? I would like around 170bhp...is that possible on a N/A for muchos cheapness? :) Also whats the best/cheapest way of keeping the water temps down? Aftermarket Rad? any cheap bolt ons from other cars availale? I read somewhere that skyline rads fit straight in?

Hey,

I`m currently eyeing up a 1988 FC N/A, for the sole purpose of being a drifting learner car. Would these be ok for learning in? Or would they lack the power/torque required?

I had a Silvia S12 for drifting last year, and that was great..but had to sell it due to a career move. But im missing going sideways, and dont want to smash up my FD, so was looking at alternatives.

If they are ok, what modifications would I need to do to make it a reliable drifter?

Cheers

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the advice, been to look at the car and it wasnt good. Rust was very bad, sills were in a real state unfortunately.

Shame though as the engine seemed to have good compression and the gearbox/clutch etc all seemed good.

Would be a good car to break for parts, but the chassis was a gonner.

Ah well, i`ll keep looking. :)

Quote from: AndyGen3;645517Very light and have plenty of power. . I was very surprised with the power when i got one first ! And so was my mate in his Type R civic when we went to collect it . . . :Giggle Did a bit of drifting in my first one and it handled really well. . 10 times better with a proper diff and suspension tho. . If you get it for good money you wont regret it. .

Excellent news, thanks.

Would welding the diff be a good idea for budget drifting? Not sure about how to sort the suspension, some lowering springs maybe? Coilovers probably wont be available or be a touch expensive lol.

This is all hyperthetical though, if its in good condition and mechanically good...I shall be looking at restoring it anyway. Wouldnt want to ruin one of these rare cars by drifting it, if shes a good`un. :cool

Thanks guys.

Depending on the overall condition, im either going to restore and sell it, or turn it into a drift car.

Can these cars make a good drift car? Or are they lacking the power needed?

Will do, thanks.

Anything else?

Hey Everyone,

I`m going to look at an FB today, just wondering if there are any buyers guides etc with things to look for on these cars?

Also, whats the going price for a 1984 car with 70k ish miles but no tax or mot. But appears to be in above average condition.

I know about FD`s after owning one for the past 3 years, but FB`s are a total new animal to me.

What sort of BHP do they have by the way? Ive seen the 0-60 is around 9 seconds,..which isnt too bad.

I meant the HKS ignition amplifier mate. Are you running one, or just using racing plugs?

Quote from: suba;638472That\'s at the wheels, so just shy of 400 at the fly.

re-worx mapped the car under orders to give me a nice safety margin.

In that case those are fantastic numbers, well done mate!

Oh by the way, have you had to go for one of the HKS Twin Power things or not? Im undecided whether to get one.

Good figures mate, although dont people get 330bhp flywheel figures on stock turbos?

Or is that 330bhp at the wheels?

Who mapped it mate?
#13
Thats unfortunate mate, I did have a feeling this would be the case on your car though. Once the v-mount or FMIC is on though it will be a lot safer and obviously it will be a great for piece of mind. So in the long run I think its a better option to do this now than risk it.

Its going to be another 3 months ish before mine is ready for mapping :(

Is that a FEED front bumper you have there too?

Looks nice mate, any engine bay and interior pics?

Yeah they can.

Very expensive solution though if your keeping everything standard.
