If you put on springs that are too hard, the car may start jumping over bumps and give you less control at speed as well as loss in traction out of corners. A decent pair of thicker anti roll bars will virtually elliminate body roll on an FD3S.

Suspension tuning is an art that takes many years of experience, it\'s not a trial and error thing that you can find optimal settings for just by luck, IMHO.

As a rule of thumb, buy the best suspension coilovers you can afford from a specialist manufacturer who only makes suspension.

Aragosta or Ohlins are the best off the shelf. You can also get a set of hand built Bilstein coilovers that are better than Ohlins or Aragosta.. through Nishiki, where I had mine built....Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Hi Chris,

We\'ll contact FEED for you this week and ask them to suggest some vinyls for your car and colours.

Will get a price and availability too & get back to you.

Miguel.

Hi Juriën

I think they\'re Advan wheels, have a look at this site: http://www.yokohamatire.jp/yrc/Japan/wheel/

As I am writing here, I am uploading the pictures and details of the gold FD3S.
Might not have time to correctly order them and put the captions on, but I will do that when I get back later tonight... You\'ll be able to take a look anyways!

The only picture I have is one of the FEED demo car at the recent all Japan RX-7 meet, after it had been in an unfortunate accident with another RX-7 on the track. Shame, as it was a seriously quick RX-7. Maybe the quickest car there, in street trim.

Did see a black one there with the FEED stripes which looked awesome, whilst intact. I really like the FEED wide arch kit and stripes.

If I had your RX-7 I\'d definitely put them on, they\'re well matched to the kit and help define the curves of the car better, in a classy way.

Cheers Steve!

That was kinda my thinking when I bought it for stock, Brooksie likes it a lot too!
It MAY find it\'s way to Sweden, by the looks of it, at the moment...Never know until a car\'s reserved, I guess ;)

Chris, your car\'s looking awesome!!!!

I remember it well when I first bought it. It\'s great to see it went to a home that thoroughly deserved it. You\'ve improved it further with excellent taste too  :cool

Having seen the FEED vinyls on cars here in Japan, I have to say - I like them a lot. Would recommend getting a set, it\'ll show off the curves better!

The previous owner of your car in Japan clearly loved his FD before selling it. I\'m sure he\'d be proud to see how the car\'s progressed 2 years on!

A little confusion here, so I\'ll put it right if I may!

The white 1993 Supra with 133,000 km interloper393 has bought - did not come from Newera Imports.

The Top Secret 300GT Supra was bought by a current RX-7 owner... He\'s defecting!!!

We\'ll be selling his very low mileage mint Silver 1993 RX-7 shortly.

He says he doesn\'t like to attract attention much, but I think he\'s being economic with the truth, there!! :rollin

Jurien, your wait may be over soon... All depends if you like the Gold 30,000 genuine mile kitted FD that\'s about to be uploaded to our stock list  :cool

We sell professionally made ones that hinge perfectly, going up at around 45 mph and returning to position at lower speeds.

They\'re much better quality than most people without specialist equipment could make - and are of stainless steel so they won\'t rust.

£70 + £7 postage & packing. Available from stock:

I\'d have had him march to the cash point.

Anyway, if his cheque doesn\'t clear, perhaps a whole bunch of people who are owed parts from this clown should turn up at his house and camp outside till they get paid.

Hi Gav,

Nice to know my car was the inspiration behind you getting your\'s.

I think I posted some pics of the AE86 some time ago.. I think a feature / story will appear about it in J-Tuner shortly...

Right now it\'s having a new engine built for it from an AE92 engine (Stronger block, etc), TRD engine components, etc, etc, to make a real 200 bhp from the 4AGE N/A engine.

Once it\'s done I\'ll post some pics.

The V mount setup is one of the best mods that can be added to an FD, but not a DIY job, as it\'s complicated to re-plumb the A/C, etc. Takes a lot of work.

We have an FD in stock just uploaded today - it has the V-mount setup. It\'s described here: http://www.neweraimports.com/carDetails.jsp?carId=139

WGT and MW Bodyshop are preparing the other RX-7 at the moment...

Which Rex did you buy in the end?

Hi Gav,

We haven\'t yet got around to putting up our MRC banner ad, but I think I can safely say (Without fear of retribution from the moderators :eek!!) that we operate a service of sourcing and supplying all parts available in Japan, at discount.

//www.neweraparts.com

So a search for parts for FD3S RX-7\'s. You may find some on there that you didn\'t know about, although we\'ve still got tons of parts to upload.... given time (Difficulty is in finding the damn time :) :))!!

If you fit a 2 way diff, this can still be used for grip driving, as it\'s what it was originally designed for (2 way diff means there is limited slip both when accelerating and off the throttle, one way is acceleration only, 1.5 is, etc, etc).

I\'d never use my RX-7 for drifting, as it really has been set up to grip - so it\'s like fighting the car to slide, when it doesn\'t want to. Basically, the suspension settings, etc. are finely tuned for the two different types of driving, so you can\'t really make a car that is the best for both worlds...

So I\'m building a race engined AE86 Corolla drift car - purely for learning to be sideways as much as possible, down to a fine art... Should be ready mid September... well, the engine and mechanicals that is... Cosmetics are yet to be decided.

As an example - I drove a friend\'s standard engined AE86 last weekend and was amazed at how easy the car was to slide.. My AE86 is currently rock solid on corners  in comparisonand a pain to make it go sideways... because it\'s been set up for grip driving, by the previous owner...It probably grips as much as the RX-7, which is a lot of grip for a Hachi Rokku!

So settings are of paramount importance.

Thanks for the compliments on my RX-7 :) Always appreciated that the car gets so much recognition, despite being in Japan!

....We\'re building a (barely) road legal race RX-7 in the UK which should be unveiled shortly, as a project in J-Tuner magazine...but if not, when the full respray\'s finished, we\'ll start putting the word out it\'s about to surface :burnout

Remember you\'ll need a 2 way differential.
TipS:
Add shims to make the diff lock earlier
A Diff also needs to be run in.... 1/2 hour of figure of 8\'s should do it...then an oil change.

You can increase steering lock by getting some special washers to extend the steering arms from the steering rack. Also make modifications to bring your steering arms flat (as opposed to at an angle) if you lower it - this will cure bump steer.

You\'ll want to make the car as light as possible too.

Make sure your turbo\'s not too big and laggy.

Big intercooler and radiator preferably in a V mount formation, is best.

You don\'t need to get rid of twins to drift an FD, only if you\'re going to very high level.

Finally, think of fitting a hydraulic handbrake, as FD handbrakes aren\'t very powerful at the best of times...!

Engine mods, etc. to do, but these are already mentioned above.

I\'d go for a brand new engine from Mazda in Japan. Newera Parts can source and supply a brand new factory built engine for your car, delivered - at approx. £3,200.

Mazda must know how to build engined right first time, by now :)

Chrome Silver will probably look better on an all black car. Saw a black RX-7 today with black alloys...my first thought was, "mmm, if I buy this car for stock, the wheels need to be changed to Silver..."

Then again, everone has different tastes I guess..
