yeah, seems alot quieter!.... where did everyone go? Or i guess the cost, availability, popularity of RX in the UK has diminished over time? and i suppose the fast and furious generation have got old..

oh well, keep it up anyway.. I know how much useful info is on here.

New to MRC - introduce yourself / Hello....Again
February 08, 2021, 09:46:55 PM
Hello all, im Nick aka Rmaj, i used to live in the uk up to 2012, then relocated to Hong Kong, where i am still today.

Used to come on these forums a lot back in the day, will be interested to see if there are some of the old guard still about?!?

Reason for joining again, is im planning and FD build over here and looking for all the resource and info that used to served me so well... also looking forward to sharing some knowledge and thoughts, if there is any left in the memory banks, let see!

Question - Is Carl still open and operating?

General Technical / anyway to prove rebuild

have a look at the sump, (bottom of the engine) if you can see sealent where it joins the engine chances are its been done, not much other reason to take the sump off, and most builders use the grey goo as the sump gaskets from Maz alone are pretty gash, as original Maz dont use the goo.

this wont guarentee it, but may help...

Quote from: HaywardRotary;575378The duty cycle on the wastegate is likely not right which is part of the mapping process. Having not mapped it ourselves though there could be other factors such as solenoids involved.

Carl

what do you know... you some sort of expert?

Also of your twins are jumpy, its not likely to be the map, more likely the rats nest/ancilliary. Get it checked out, and if nessecary re mapped.

and BTW, no rotary should \'blow up\', especially with old age. regular oil changes and good maintainance will see many years of motoring for you.

Quote from: SleepyDude;575182Well I took the advice and got the compresion test and it\'s;

Front rotor
7.1
7.1
7.1
Rear rotor
6.5
6.8
6.9

So not to bad but I think it\'s time to start saving up. The second turbo when the car was dyno\'d was rapidly jumping up and down and was put down to the mapping being off, it was last remapped a year and a half ago.

I\'m trying to get the car ready to take down the track at Santa pod for rotor stock6 LOL just hoping it won\'t blow if I push it.

Thats fine mate, plenty of life left, and its pretty even. YOU DONT NEED A REBUILD

General Technical / De-cat. Re map or not bother?
February 21, 2008, 08:06:45 AM
it differs from car to car, but generally speaking if you get a good filter and dump the cat/bigger back box, you will suffer from boost spike whereby the gasses flow faster than the control loop on the stock ecu can catch it and dump excess pressure (via wastegate).

And as we know more boost needs more fuel, or in the case of the stock ecu, you will get \'Fuel Cut\', this feels like youve hit a brick wall, no power for a second then it goes back to normal.

Open your wallet get an Apexi PFC, have a map, and happy driving with more power, less fuel  etc.....

mine has \'character!\'

floods when \'warm\' only, not hot, not cold...  random, am gunn fit a switch on the dash to cut fuel to save me pulling the fuses the whole time.

me thinks dodgy injector or dodgy warm start..  pig!!!
