Hi, hope someone can advise me on how to remove the ignition barrel from my scrap rx7, A member on here needs it but I\'m very close to the point of breaking something. \\i have removed the steering wheel , indicator stalks and I\'m thinking I need to cut slots in the securing studs that hold the clamp and the cast alloy body to the steering shaft tube, or do i need to drill out the little brass pins close to the end where the key goes......

Help!!!!!........lol

the circled picture shows the cruise control throttle, i think you want to adjust the screw just above the oil filter, under the big elbow...but don\'t hold me to it, still learning myself.

Help.....trying to fit my new pfc & controller, changed out the ecu etc all very easy, turn on ignition and no flashing lights on dash, turn the key and try to fire it up for the idle self learning and it splutters and coughs and pops up and down but wont run. I tried a couple of times but, no more until I get advice, I\'m up in scotland so no chance of popping round to wgt etc etc.

What is the issue regarding the idle screw adjustment when fitting the PFC

It is the right PFC for the car BUT i recently changed the engine over from another 94 import, and I forgot to check the injectors, is there a way to id them without actually removing them.
My car is import 94 model and the apexi is the Z004 91-95 with the commander, I have hks panel filter in the stock airbox, standard downpipe and 3" decat exhaust super magna something from japan, stock intercooler, new battery, good leads and new plugs (all 9\'s) the car run fine on stock ecu.

Anyone know whats needs to be corrected?

General Technical / FD3S engine removal begins

You don\'t need the special service tool, just pop 2 drill bits or like in to the holes in the pulley, and then a long jack handle thru between them and then use your socket/spanner to loosen the nut....worked fine for me, same goes for re-fitting it.

666FLO, BTW the car was filthy because coming out of Inverurie I got stuck behind a truck spraying mud off the wet road. Enjoyed posing around Ellon until I stopped at the toilets and Shock horror at the rally splatters, straight to the jet wash.....lol.

Well the Rex is stuck in my garage till I recieve a new solenoid as when I removed the inlet manifold I noticed a loose hose, then noticed it was sheared off. Hopefully its the cause of the boost issues I\'m having.

Treated myself to the Apexi power FC + commander, and I\'m going to try setting it up myself.......well at least the self learning map.

Next day delivery usually means 3 days up this neck of the woods, and so the excitement builds.

Thanks for the reply and if i get it running again soon, we can arrange a mini meet as you put it.

OK where to start, just changed the engine last week and when it was all back together, second turbo was not coming in and boost pressure around 5-6psi, after taking the inlet manifold off I noticed a loose pipe, the pipe goes from the inlet manifold check valve (behind the altenator) to the double throttle control thingymebob, the plastic outlet pipe had broken off with nothing left to attach pipe.Could this be the reason i\'m getting low boost and second turbo fails to come in.

Also anyone got a spare for sale (Urgently needed)

Still having boost problems at the moment, second turbo not coming in, boost gauge reading 0.4 kg/m2 (5psi) drops for second turbo and then nothing much happens, 125mph max, still going over all my hoses etc. Got my ass kicked by a 2.6 gsi did not want to bother with him, but sat on my bumper goading me on. Also would need about £200 petrol just to get there, this car is overfuelling as its de-cated, hks panel filter so thinking of getting Apexi power fc and remap, BTW if i fit this myself, how hard is it do the map myself, well using the preset maps from the apexi ecu etc I know this is a stupid question but I\'m a DIY kind a guy.

666FLO, Guess that would have been you I passed coming in to Ellon today, was going to turn around and follow but that would have made me a stalker....lol. I parked up outside the bank for a while, I was passing through Ellon on my way to find Japerformance cars at castlepark, I\'m thinking of getting Apexi power FC and might use them to setup map on rolling road, Have you had any dealings with them? Anyways let me know if your coming up Mintlaw/Peterhead way.

Thanks guys, M4drx, after reading up a few boost problems, I\'m sure its a hose somewhere as I replaced a few when i rebuilt the engine back up and should have maybe used glue on the ones without clips, I\'m going to pull the plenum and double check, see if i can find clips for them all. I cant overtake anything because the power drops when the second turbo should kick in. Good thing about this is that my 520 BMW feels fast now.......lol.

STEVE: wrong spy, my one has deep dish rays alloys, Knightsports rear batmobile spoiler. I remember speaking to the guy in checkpoint when he had the silver RX with the 19" wheels, but I thought he sold it.

IAN: I\'ve seen a silver FC parked outside Schlumberger Wireline in dyce, any chance its yours?

Thanks for the replies
