Someone get pics up!

Sensationalism, news sells...............

Any links to the car that you are selling, would be worth having a look.

do you have the stock brakes for sale?

where on earth (well, japan) do you find all these nice fd\'s?

they wont appear in auctions not online auction sites.

I think it\'s down to over thirteen years of enthusiastically searching the right places, this was from Border Racing directly. Auctions are the last resort place to achieve a sale - hence why most cars are often not up to standard. I had also purchased the black Border Racing Time Attack car:

As Dale mentioned, they do indeed run non sequentially. There really is minimal lag, the turbo spools up unbelievably quickly and it really does accelerate well - much faster on acceleration compared to a TD06, T51R single turbine RX-7.

I am inclined to selling it only because of work commitment, this year alone it has had close to £6500 spent on it. :driving

Speedwork, each turbine is rated at 380 ps and are ball bearing. If you want fuller spec on comp / turbine wheel etc then just drop me a mail; freddy__k@hotmail.com

Never saw the reply to this thread!

The behaviour of the twins is very refined, in the low revs you can happily drive without being thrown back and forth as is such the case with large single turbo fd\'s. The spool time of the turbine is very minimal and makes it\'s hugely responsive. Yet throughout the rev range, the power delivery is so linear yet brutal. It really does achieve what Apexera set out to do; large single turbo power with the useability to that of a twin turbo RX-7.

I completely agree with your sentiments on finding the right car in the UK. Apart from a small handful, there are no nice RX-7\'s for sale. Most are the remains of what were a cheap import some years ago.

Importing and whilst buying from Japan. The Japanese commonly refer to monetary values as hundreds the ambiguity of the 2 million yen as being 200.

The prices on carsensor are massively inflated - I say this with huge experience of importing cars and I have been monitoring the site since it\'s inception. Carsensor is purely Japanese Domestic Market (hence tax inclusive prices which you do not pay for export) but you will still find trash on there. Most cars however, are not and the price is reflective of this. There are bargains out in Japan - dealer part exchanges / private sales if these do not find themselves transiting through the auction portals then you can make an exceptional purchase. It really is a case of looking in the right places.

The days of cheap imports is also well and truly over. I started by purchasing at a rate of ¥180 to £1 during 1996/1997 followed by a gradual increase with the peak being circa ¥250 to £1 in 2006. Now in 2010 you are looking at a rate of ¥130 to £1, so you can imagine how the price of cars have been affected drastically. The current yen rate has been stagnant since 2009 partly down to the Yen losing it\'s fixed term with the $ - there are no signs of a recovery.

A fresh import and one chosen to specification will almost always be more expensive than most of the cars for sale in the UK. One simple reason is that it is far more worthwhile for an importer to bring in a cheap and perhaps even an aesthetically unpleasant car which would yield the same return as an expensive unit. Also because there aren\'t many who would be willing to stump up and pay top money for a well sorted RX-7. In my experience, I have seen a lot of people purchase cheap ones only to be left spending more on putting things right than the outlay of an already sorted car from the outset.

There a lot of RX-7\'s in Japan that wholly justify the >£20000 price tag, I myself have been guilty of this on a few occasions but with no regrets. These cars have a sterling heritage in Japan often seen as a true testament of the finest sports car to have ever come out of Japan.

Big Thanks to Clive and Lisa for pulling off another great Rotorstock event. This is definitely an event for us rotary owners to stay and has just got bigger and better each year. Already looking forward to the next. :D

Depends how desperate you are for the sale. I suppose you just accept people exerting their unfortunate predicament in certain ways.

From my experience, there is always a motive - monetarily or something similar so do excuse what I mentioned above.

A good 95-98 model RX-7 with history, low mileage, accident free shell (note - uncommon now) would cost around £6-8k landed and fully registered in the country. The attached car below belongs to a friend of mine - 1998, Type R, 44000 Miles, Compression tested in high 8\'s and handled flawlessly. He imported it from Japan and it did cost him around £7500, he could well have purchased one for less but with RX-7\'s - the price very much so is directly related to the condition both aesthetically and mechanically.

I would say a good 99 Spec model would be in the £9500 mark but I have not imported recently to warrant a definite reply.

well my mate imports jap cars, he imported a lovely white 96 model a while back so i could get him to look for you, as your local ill just get him to make no profit on it, ive 99spec ones for 4-5k over there etc

I\'m sorry but your friend the importer would make no profit on your say so? I find that hard to believe.

Having had probably purchased the most number of RX-7\'s in the country since 1998. I can tell you now, buying a < 99 specification car that is freshly imported from Japan at £4-5k is simply asking for trouble unless of course you strike it lucky with a genuine one off bargain purchasing from a private individual in Japan.

As for >99+ Spec cars for 5k in Japan would still be very cheap and against the norm pricing of a good 1999 specification car. At 5k you would still need to pay export fees, shipping, duty, vat, registraton costs etc making the total bill to atleast £8000.

Yes mate, most possibly. E mail Jit on here or fduk - he has a genuine Mazda Comp tester.

Hey Dan it\'s still looking sweet! Although I do not think you should buy it back but rather start a new project! :3gears-rh

Looking great Karl and completely different to what I remember of it from driving it three years back!
