General Technical / Coolant temp woos again.
September 04, 2012, 10:33:43 AM
Just to put in a few things that i noticed.

Ducting is the most important thing here. A clean radiator is also important. But ducting between IC and rad is the most important thing. Remeber air goes the way with the least resistance. And that\'s on the side, under and over the rad. It needs to be ducted on all 4 sides. Secondly rad needs to be clean and in good condition. Fans need to be ok, stock fans are not the best in the world. Some aftermarket once will help alot.

Ducting of oil coolers helps alot as well. As the lower your oil temps are the lower your water temp is. Also a good oil helps alot. Cheap thin mineral oil sucks big time. Also does old oil. I always change oil before each track session. And uses Agip 10-60 oil. The thicker the more cooling properties. You can run mineral oil, but needs to be thick and changed for every session.

Also for the waterpump you can get a mazmart waterpump that flows about 30% more.

Last thing to do is get the heat out of your engine bay. It get\'s hot under there and it needs to go somewhere.

March 12, 2012, 10:52:12 AM
I have the kit, and runnin 12X18 ET +25 in the rear and 11x18 ET +3 in the front, not sure if the ET is 100% correct or not. But i know i could have run same wheels in the front as well.

I have not ready trough the entire thread but picked up enough.

The stock FD iginition system do work for high boost and high numbers but it will break the engine. Especially if you are running it with a PFC. A freind dynoed 565rwhp with a PFC, stock coils and HKS Twin Power, the engine lasted about 5 000 km before it went boom on the track. Most likely due to ignition problems.

For a EFI system i would not go anything else then with a CDI system for ignition. I have tried alot during the years and had alot of problems.

At the moment i have been running the Autronic 500R CDI with the Crane Cams PS92 coils for 4 years and never had a ignition problem. Im going CDI on my 4 rotor as well for next year, as it\'s eating plugs with the standard bosch coil setup.

I can\'t tell you enough how important it is to have a realy good ignition system for a rotoray engine. The more power and the higher you rev, the better igintion system you need. Esp on turbo engines, as they run quite "rich".

There are several good CDI systems out there that works, but still find something that has been tested and works.

3rd generation RX-7's / Maximum power on stock Ports?
December 28, 2009, 02:38:18 PM
I think this was to test and see how much power the stock engine could handle. It was with a GT45 turbo i belive and somewhere around 30 psi or something :P

All i can say on stock ports, is that there are some ppl in the states that has gotten out over 700rwhp on a completely stock engine before it took an apex seal. This was with a huge turbo and E85.

U can find the thread on the RX7club forum somewhere.

Hmm tried to register at fduk but it would not let me do the no spam question. Even tho i wrote in the correct words and numbers :(

Oh well too bad

shaun it will happen ;)

But sadly first time will be 2011 :( As the new car will take time to build, as there will be a lot of tube framing to be welded in. And a alot of cutting in the chassi. The engine is going to be no longer forward then the stock 13B engine :) So the engine will be faaaaar back.

Quote from: Swanny_UK;660009Front cover? Awesome news! ...and jantore - after seeing your car being built, I can\'t wait to see you on track \'in the flesh\' as it were!

thanks

the chassi is beeing sold off, so a new one is going to be built. Almost complete tube frame chassi. Will be built similar to the Revolution Time Attack FD.

So wont be in england before 2011 for a new tune of the engine to 9500 rpm

Oh yeas it does if you have one of those hard rubber mallets that is filled with sand. Hmm should have mentioned that as that is what i use and it works great.

very simple solution, get a rubber mallet. hit it hard, around the flywheel. soon it will fall off.

that\'s what i always do.
