Some tips.......
Use thinner card for your templates.....
I'm not sure what welder you have, but if you're butt welding repair panels on the outside, use 0.6 or at the biggest 0.8 welding wire.
You'll need to keep the power low, don't weld continuously, do an inch here, then go on the other side, to spread the heat evenly or your panel will warp and go wrinkly like a witches tit.
Use a damp rag to cool it as you go, slow n steady wins the race. Try and leave a 0.5 mm ish gap to get some penetration because when you lining it back you need to lead some meat on the panel.
You could joggle the one panel and do a slight overlap.
I would go on you tube if you're on a steep learning curve, because you can pick up some tips on there. Don't be disheartened if it doesnt go well, you don't learn this stuff over night.
Hope this helps
yea i didnt think of the damp cloth thats a damn good idea.. using 0.8 wire ill get more pics up when i get some time at home.. yea i like learning, just dont like things not being perfect... thanks man appreciate the advice
so i started on my days off cutting and welding some bits learning to panel beat.

Blimey you don't do things by halves do you! But good for you. What are your plans form them? Any pics?
Incidentally did you sort out the missing lip on the 88 one?
My 88 has just gone in for it's MOT...seat belt anchorages were an advisory last time, so I'm guessing a little welding will be needed this time around!
so my red one is pretty original so im going to try keep it that way... i have a blue s5 im either going to use for parts or fix it up bit by bit, then a silver s4 with a rollcage thats going to be my fun toy/project car.. i bought an extra engine to try a street port and also make fibreglass parts...i dont get bored
only things im missing i think is two balljoints and a 54mm socket... then im pretty good(i think)

Sills are available, tho I'm not sure where from
Aston at Essex Rotary has a source for some.... not cheap tho at around £2-300 per side. I may be needing one for the EGI
Floorswise I dont think there are any suppliers or not that I could find

Can you mig weld?
Its not that hard...and Sealey Mighty Mig is cheap enough...cut floor out and pattern a part from sheet?
like anything its the prep that counts..

I don't know with absolute certainly about the availability of floor panels, but I know when I had the sills done on my vert recently, they had to fabricate the panels as replacements weren't available off the shelf so I'd say its likely the same issue with floor panels
