Hi Clive,

Yes, stock FD and early RX8 would be ideal, though we can be a bit flexible to get nice cars in the Midlands. Stock or slightly modified is ideal, but not uber modified as the idea is to give magazine readers who may be thinking about Mazda rotary ownership a bit more info, plus a feel for the typical ownership experience. With luck, the feature can tempt more classic enthusiasts towards rotary fun!

I've had a couple of responses from RX8 owners already, who emailed me via your excellent website. Thank you guys!

Hi Clive,

Many thanks for the response. I have to say personally I'm only familiar with driving the RX8, though I did have a neighbour with a gorgeous RX7 20 years ago!

My aim is always to give a fair comparison of the cars I write about. This feature should should be particularly useful for someone who is thinking about a Mazda rotary but doesn't know the cars well enough to make an informed choice. I always ask the owners lots of questions during the photo shoot so I get material for my features 'straight from the horse's mouth', and owners have complimented me on how I've portrayed their cars.

It's a chance to straighten out the RX7/RX8 misconceptions you've mentioned, and I know the cars are different, though the fact they are both rotaries makes for a natural magazine comparison.

Please do let me know if you're able to help with cars for our photo shoot.

All the best,

Nigel

Hi Everyone,

I'm a freelance writer for classic car magazines and am working for a major classic car title to produce a head-to-head feature on the RX7 and RX8. Hope this is the right place on your forum to post my call for help.

We are looking for an RX7 and RX8, for a photo shoot with a top professional photographer. Please can I ask if any here would be interested to bring their car along for our shoot. We need one example of each model, in smart and near-original condition, though they don't need to be concours prize winners and a minor modifications are fine. The shoot will most likely be held in January (weather permitting!) at a location in the Midlands. We have flexibility to arrange the date and location to fit in with the owners of the cars.

The owners of the cars used will get a selection of professional photos of their car, a chance to see their pride and joy in print in a magazine, and of course there will be a good plug for your club.

If you're interested or would like to know more, please email me through the forum or post here.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Nigel
