Well it's pretty obvious that no compression will be the result, there's  two apex seals complete missing from the rotor slots.
But I did actually ran a test and on the front I had about 100 psi even on all the needle jumps.

General Technical / Turbo 2 missing "piston rings" lol

Hi.
My 1990 T2 only runs on the front rotor, the rear rotor appear to have no compression at all.
So, I took a video from the rear leading spark plug hole, and it appears that is completely missing an apex seal.
The video starts with a view from a good apex seal, then as the engine is rotated you see the second apex seal grove appear and then on the third one it appears there is still some seal inside the groove or maybe is just the spring, can't see very well. Video was taken with a phone filming the endoscope screen, so not perfect.

Here is the video:

What i want to ask is, the engine is stock with 56K miles, so with OEM apex seals what are the chances that the housing and turbo are going to be OK?
I have no ideia how this happened, I bought the car that had been sitting for about 15 years, I knew it wasn't running on both rotors but thought that maybe it was just dirty and stuck primary injectors from all the years sitting. And the funny thing is after about 4Krpm the car sounds that is running fine (hence my thought about primary injectors dirty and secondaries kicking in).

So, money is a bit tight now but that will give me a chance to open up the engine and think about what parts need replacing and other goodies that come with rebuilds (porting).

Best Regards

Hi.

Seeing that my post on the parts section isn't getting much attention. http://mazdarotaryclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=83910.0

I've put the whole car on eBay, maybe some one braver than me will take it on as a project. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/172278475197?

Thanks

New to MRC - introduce yourself / Hi
July 06, 2016, 05:30:11 PM
Hi.
My name is Tiago Amarante, I'm a Portuguese living and working in the UK for 10 years now.

Back in 2007 I had an 83 FB. great car, had to sell it do too family expansion.
My missus knows that it was heartbreaking for me to have to sell that car so, in a true loving gesture, bought me an 82 a couple weeks ago, while I was abroad to surprise me.
Unfortunately, I think the rust is too extensive to save that car, it has been sitting for 20+ years (last tax disc ran out August 93), managed to get it running by squirting easy start and petrol down the carb mouth (carb must bee too gummed up to function properly).
On the plus side everything else part from the wipers work.
So, I'll be parting out the car.

All the money made will be to buy another Mazda RX-7 (missus understands the situation and gave the OK, woohoo).
I'm not afraid of the engine or mechanical work, but bodywork I'm not to keen on, unless it's easy stuff like replace a front wing or whatever.

So I'll be posting an "For Sale" ad and if anyone wants anything just message me.

Thanks
