12A has engine mounts in different position compared to 13B. Same thing with gearbox. So that is your biggest job...

As for ecu, I would go with Haltech. Microtech and Adaptronic are good too, but there is alot used Haltechs on sale. As for wiring, I dont know crap about electronics ;)

Little common turbo like T4 hybrid would be best option I think.

Right on, what size inducer is a T4? thanks for the help!

General Technical / turbo II swap into '82 on E85
January 07, 2016, 06:35:47 PM
Planning on doing a turbo II 13b swap into my FB eventually and was wondering what electronics to run, size turbo to swap to for a reliable 300 to 350 horses and what fuel system to run (I really want to corn feed her on E85).  Most likely putting in a fuel cell since my current tank is a disgusting rust bucket.  It will be driven on the street but im totally fine with loosing drive ability and gas mileage: it isnt my daily.  Any suggestions especially for wiring and ECU is greatly appreciated! also if theres another swap thread that could be helpful that will be appreciated also.  Thanks!

If it has not run for a long time, pull the top off the carb and see if the float is stuck in the up position,

If its stuck up then fuel can't get into the carb

I will be checking that first, but even if thats the problem, I will probably take it all off and clean almost all of it. mine as well do it now

Does it run or does it stall during acceleration? Or...?

I have to squirt fuel into the carb with a squirt bottle.  I believe the jets are clogged.

General Technical / 82 fb running problems, fuel delivery
November 30, 2015, 01:05:06 PM
I am having issues with fuel delivery. Gas makes it to the carb, but apparently not to the actual intake port. Do I need to clean my whole carb? also are there any videos or whatnot about taking off the carb, dont want to get any lines mixed up and whatnot, thanks

General Technical / 5 lug swap?
November 19, 2015, 06:34:26 PM
wondering if doing a 5 lug swap would be a good upgrade for cheap.  also I want to go disc brakes in the back so how should i go about doing that?  later year axle that has a 5 lug and discs already? If doing that, what year should I look for that has a good axle with an lsd?

General Technical / IRS swap
November 19, 2015, 04:17:42 AM
Wondering if anyone has successfully swapped in an IRS into their first gen.  Im toying with the idea for now, looking specifically into a miata rear end or a ford 8.8 IRS.

Well, dunno prices in US but I would imagine that they are cheaper there than europe. Probably 200$...

However, I do have lsd diff with rare 5,125 ration in my garage. ;)

Awesome!

Well, FB's rear is good. It can take a lot of beating. And there should be lots of lsd's and rations on market in US...

But if you really want to change it, I would go with rx-8 or FD's

Ford Sierra rear is crap (sorry Jon) and Mustangs is too heavy. And you dont need that if you dont run with massive power.

Miatas little rear is crap too, and big rear has basically same internals that FB's .

Other option is to use Beemers rear. They are quite good, like E36 325

Thank you, i will probably stick with my live axle.  do you know of any cheap LSD?

Well, it depends how stock and untouched car is

Firts you should get scrap that airpump and exhaust. There is lots of after market part like Racing Beats. Or DIY, but remember that it will be loud ;)

Second, scrap that old carburator. It needs rebuild anyways so better to get new one (or used). Again, Racing Beat

Then you should consider pre mixin gasoline with oil. Then you can (if you want) delete OMP system

You should check Racing Beats site, it has lots of good tips :)

already on it, those mods are on my list! thanks :)

Yep just make sure you get an lsd diff. And a decent ratio..the special editions all came with lsd and the jdm's.

fore sure, lsd is a must
