cheers chap, its a decent car, just a few niggles to sort through, random missfire over 5k is annoying me but i have a few ideas.
it would be nice to know a bit more about it from the fella who built it but im getting my head around the mods and stuff. turbo has had work but im not sure what, set up at 15psi and is eager as hell.

just a quick shout to M1tch the member who owned the grey fc i procured. after lots of stripping, cutting, swearing, hammering, welding, more cutting and swearing, a bit of assembling, trying to get it to run, loads more swearing then a bit of cheering. its mot'd and on the road.. thought id share the good news. (also if your still frequenting the forum id like to pick your brains about some of the engine mods if you dont mind)

well here she is, not a finished motor by any stretch but she runs and drives. needs a dab of paint and some fine tuning but im chuffed to bits to finally get to use it.

Cars for Sale / fc coupe rolling shell.
December 17, 2014, 05:24:02 PM
i cant afford to keep the fc stored and due to having no time or money to work on it im offering the rolling shell for sale. hopefully someone can give it the attention it needs and get the thing back on the road. one day i'll be in a better situation to own another but i got to face facts now is not the time...
so the car. it belonged to forum members for years, seems a well known car on here. i picked it up a while back and had lots of plans for it. it needs a fair bit of repair work underneath. i have had a good poke about under it and i can list what repairs need doing.
some patches on sills both sides, not too extensive but both wing mounting areas are rough. bits on outer sills, both floors where they meet the sill inside have gone most of the way. inside drivers rear wheel tub has a hole about an inch or 2 dia. both chassis rails have small patches to do on the bottom face. easy repairs all of em if your handy with a mig.
the rest of the shell is pretty good. rear arches are mint. t2 skirts will cover the bits that need repairs but there is a bit that needs paint i already repaired on rear quarter. metal is all good needs a fill n paint. all side trims are present.
old spoiler holes need filling. aluminium bonnet fitted in same colour could do with a respray... roof is pretty good.
so the shell needs a bit of work but its not too bad.
i have a pair of front wings in ok shape to go on, they are white though.
all suspension is stock and seems ok, front brakes are fitted with braided lines but need the lines running in the bay and then bleeding to finish abs delete. rear calipers are freshly refurbed. new pads fitted with good discs and new braided lines and copper lines across the rear. there is a hydro handbrake fitted as well as the stock one, custom handle and custom braided lines front to back. pretty much complete interior but no front seats. carpet is out to do the repair work. diff is good. front and rear strut braces included.
the engine and ancilleries, rad, gearbox, loom, ecu and prop are not included.
it will be on some wheels but not sure what yet, not the gtr's.
i do have the v5c and some paperwork with it.
i would like to see £650 for it, located in farnham surrey.

2nd generation RX-7's / rear brake issues. help.
November 15, 2014, 03:42:20 PM
right. i sorted a handbrake. made a closed loop for the rear brakes using a toyota clutch master cylinder. i bled the rears up and it set the pad gap then the handbrake worked. so you need to bleed brakes first...

2nd generation RX-7's / rear brake issues. help.
November 07, 2014, 11:52:54 PM
right i still have my fc cab, could not bring myself to break it. but i dont have time to fix it yet. so i fitted up some of the missing rear end including the brakes to get it rolling as i need the garage to work on the womans car (no. 1 priority of course :2Confused)

i had previously fitted new caliper seals and dust boots to the rear calipers as they were clearly past their best, i did not fit the new the handbrake lever seal thing though. that bit looked complicated and springy haha. i stuck them together and wound the pistons right back.
so tonight i just chucked new pads in and bolted it all up hoping to get the handbrake to work.
i have no front lines on the car yet so cant bleed the brakes through. does this mean i cant ratchet up the hadbrake mechanism to get it working? i thought with a few yanks on the lever it would adjust the pistons back out and allow me to use the handbrake to slow the car when im rolling it downhill. the lever pulls right up but not even close to making pads contact the discs.
am i fighting a loosing battle with it and need to get the brakes bled up for it to adjust up and work??
i realise im probably being a bit dim but these all in one rear caliper jobbies are new to me, im used to internal handbrake, external caliper set ups like on my old r33\'s and s13\'s...
cheers.
