General Technical / Many FD problems
March 24, 2013, 08:19:46 PM
1. RPM gauge fluctuates all over the place on it\'s own accord. I have downloaded the manual but it doesn\'t say how to remove the instrument cluster so that I can check what the problem is. Any guide on here for the cluster removal. I have done a search but could find anything.

2. Stock oil pressure gauge doesn\'t work. Instrument cluster removal again?

3. I need to swap the rear fog light to the other side for Germany. How do you remove the stock rear light assembly?

4. I have a few defi gauges; the Ex temp gauge lights up/flashes on start but the needle doesn\'t move, infact it stays permanently just past the max temp reading when either on or off. Can the defi gauges be stripped down to check what the problem is? I don\'t seem to be able to undo the front glass face.
Far left gauge

5. Can I purchase a Defi oil temp sensor alone (I already have the gauge, but the sensor is damaged)?

Which connects to hear:

6. Does anyone know the likely place this vacuum hose has disconnected from. I found it lying just above the gearbox near the bulkhead.

7. What should be connected to this point. It seems a hose is missing. As the car has been modified it may not be required. Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks Philiwily, I do have an ApexiPFC. I guess I can just cut the 4 wires and it will revert back to Kmh and with the ApexiPFC fitted the speed limiter will be removed i.e allow V-max as apposed to only 112mph?

Hi guys, the car I have just bought has a 180kmh speedp but has been converted to MPH. How can I reverse this process; if I take remove the cluster will it be obvious/do I just cut the wires to a little box???

3rd generation RX-7's / Gear and Diff oil
March 17, 2013, 08:40:22 PM
Would I be ok using this oil for both diff and gearbox. I have a \'94 Jap import and am not sure if these are fitted with an LSD as standard:

3rd generation RX-7's / Definitive answer for plugs
March 17, 2013, 08:17:54 PM
The manual states that the following plugs are required:

Leading side BUR7EQ
Trailing side BUR9EQ

However all the companies I look for to buy a set of plugs from seem to sell 4x BUR9EQ or BUR9EQP.

My question is, should I be fitting all 4 plugs Part Number BUR9EQ or should I buy 2 of the 7\'s and 2 of the 9\'s.

This relates to a car only mildly tuned (Exhaust/filter/FMIC/APEXi powerFC). If you know of a better solution I\'m all ears:Thumbsup!

Wow Clive that certainly brings back good memories:Thumbsup! I have never seen these pictures before.

If only the car was as useful as a snow plough It has stood in the same spot for around a year now without being started. I am actually getting the keys and paying for it on Tuesday so hopefully there aren\'t too many issues with it. Many thanks for the warm welcome guys;)

Hi, I\'m new here so thought it best I introduce myself. I have been a passionate admirer of the RX7 for some time now; in fact I came runner up at the very first Rotorstock at the Shakespeare County Raceway to Adrian Smith in his Fensport Corolla back in 2004, this gave me a good insight into just what was capable with these cars. Anyway fast forward almost 10 years and I have now finally got my hands on one, a \'94 FD. I look forward to using this as a tracktoy for my local track \'Grüne Hölle\' and becoming a trusted member here.
Kind regards Richie

Ok Michael, if I can get confirmation about fitment I will take these off your hands. I\'m guessing you are up in Glasgow; is postage possible, if so do you have any idea on cost?

Hi YAU, are these still for sale? If so will these fit a \'94 model and do they come with all the parts required to convert compartments to seats (seatbelt, mounting bracket/clips,  panels et cetera)

I have a Jap import (previously UK registered then Ireland and now I am trying to get it registered in Germany). It has a 180Kmh speedo which has had the K covered to get it through registration/MOT (Now reading M/H). I\'m guessing there must have also been a device fitted to enable this to read/convert to Mph (divided by 1.6 stepdown)?
I now need to change this back to Kmh so am wondering how this can be done. The car has an APEXi PowerFC ECU, would this be affected at all (speed signal???)
I have also seen pictures of a 300Kmh speedo by a company called Feed. Bearing in mind the problem above, is this a plug and play solution or does the speedo need to be converted somehow to make the needle read correctly?
Many thanks in advance

Could anyone explain the likely cause of this problem, FD running APEXi PFC:

After stop/start town driving the car engine floods with fuel, the plugs then need to be removed to allow the excess fuel to evaporate.

Is there a known fix for this problem?

Good to hear CarbonRX
