Clive, thanks. For some reason the thread subscription failed and I have been remiss in checking, so this is a bit late.

I am now starting to sell all the bits and pieces that I accumulated for my turbo conversions, both of which have now been sold.

This listing is for my wheels as follows:
1.   OZ Ultraleggera 18” staggered.
a.     Info. Rare and much-sought-after wider rears OZ Ultraleggera 18" with spacers for Mazda's 67.1 bore and complete with all 4 carbon fibre centre caps.
2 wheels are 18” 8J ET48 with 245/40/18 tyres
2 wheels are 18” 9J ET35 with 265/35/18 tyres
The wheels are in excellent condition for used items, noting that there is some minor kerbing and the odd mark.

Tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric with tread depths as follows:
Inner Middle Outer Average, New Depth, Legal Minimum Depth, % tread Left (based on a nominal 6.4 mm from 8 mm new, 1.6 mm legal minimum)
265/35/18: 3.4 3.7 3.7 3.6 31%
265/35/18: 3.4 3.5 3.8 3.6 31%
245/40/18: 5.2 5.6 5.3 5.4 59%
245/40/18: 5.0 5.7 5.3 5.3 58%
There is some minor scoring on the 2 rear tyres from when they were on another car. All 4 wheels/tyres clear the arches.
b. Price. New without tyres these are over £1,300.  As a proportion of new tyre prices the tyres are over £200.
New without tyres these are over £1,300.  So £795 with tyres.

2.    MazdaSpeed (Rays) Forged Alloys 18".
a.   Info.  I’d pencilled in putting these on my R3 for the colder months but have been offered some other alloys and can’t make a decision; I’m therefore putting these up here to see if anyone wants them more than I do. These are extremely rare.  They have been professionally refurbished in satin black and have since had quite a few marks/damage, all of which have been touched up. They look perfect from a distance, but if you want perfection then you need to allow for a refurb.
The wheels come with 225/45/18 tyres, Falken ZIEX ZE914, which are good quality mid-range tyres (see tyrereviews.co.uk here and German review here) with tread depths of 7.0, 7.1, 4.9, 4.7 mm, which are an average of 68% of wear left, equivalent to £245 of tyre based on Camskill’s price of £90.95.
c.   Price.
i.   Alloys.  I’ve been given valuations of £800 to £2,000.
ii.   Tyres. The tyres have an average of 68% of wear left, which is equivalent to £245 of tyre based on Camskill’s price of £90.95.
iii.   All in, how does £995 sound?

For viewing and collection, I am in Redhill, Surrey.  I am happy to courier at cost, roughly £40 plus any payment fees, where packing will take me a couple of days.

If there is more than one buyer interested I will try to be fair to everyone.  To this end:
1.    I will give order of preference by the time that buyers agree/offer to buy either by pm or post.  Note that only [paid up] members can post here, non-members being able to only PM me, so being the first to post doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re in pole position.
2.   Unless agreed otherwise, an agreement to buy will hold the item for 48 hours and a 10% deposit will hold it for 2 weeks.

Gosh, you wait ages for EFR turbos and Compgate 40 wastegates then 2 come along at once.

I have reluctantly had to give up on my single turbo conversion and, having sold the car, am left with some brand new items that might be of interest:
1.   Turbo: Borg Warner EFR 7670 IWG P/N 179390.  I bought this from Turbodynamics, see here currently priced at £1,858.08.  Images attached.  Note that there are several different models of the 7670; this is the most expensive, the internal wastegate T4 one.
2.   Wastegates: 2 x Turbosmart WG40 Comp-Gate 40 with 7 psi outer spring.  The cheapest I can find advertised is £296.99 (eg see here)
3.   Boost controller: Turbosmart e-Boost Street 40 psi.  The cheapest that I can find this is £269.99 (eg see here)

Pricing these at around 70% of those new prices + any PayPal charges + any delivery gives:
1.   Turbo: £1,295.
2.   Wastegates: £208 each.
3.   Boost Controller: £190.

I am in Redhill, Surrey and can deliver at cost.

If you don’t know me from Adam and can’t visit in person, in order to give you confidence after agreeing a sale I can give you details of my other club memberships, eBay name and other people who’ve bought from me recently.

Although there's been a fair amount of interest, no-one has come up with the money so I've decided to: break her; store all the bits I need to do a 13B REW conversion on my Greddy turbo when the engine goes bang; and, sell the parts I don't need.

If anyone wants bits, then please don't contact me now for anything other than the orange sparkle wrap body panels.  I will put bits up for sale as and when I'm ready, which may take up to several weeks.

Cars for Sale / Re: FOR SALE MAZDA RX8 TURBO
January 06, 2017, 06:23:43 PM
Yes, Malcolm, I bought it.  I've got a few things to do and have already started on the interior (sort gauge electrics, remove all the nasty wiring left in her when previous owners removed bits, change seats for later versions, remove deteriorated carbon fibre on centre console and paint console plastic white).

I'll start a project thread here in the next few days.

Cars for Sale / Re: FOR SALE MAZDA RX8 TURBO

I love RX8s in white (even if a vinyl wrap or respray as I think this is, AFAIK white wasn't available in the UK until the 40th Anniversary cars) and this looks good.  It should be near the top of the list for anyone looking for a turbo conversion.   That said, any buyer should make sure they know what they are getting and check for hidden problems (even the most honest sellers may not see imminent expensive failures or poor design and/or workmanship); even cars built by professional engine builders may have a multitude of sins behind their shiny surfaces, as I have found out to my cost.

Due to unforeseen personal reasons I won’t be able to do much work on my 13B REW project car for some time and rather than put her in storage I would like someone to take her on rather than break her up or sell he to the wolves on eBay.

In short, I bought her within a few thousand miles of her being put together by a professional engine builder and featured in Banzai magazine only to find that the builder had to have limited time, budget and expertise on conversions (a polite way of saying that the design and construction of the engine systems were cr*p).  I’ve redone the electrical power and fuel systems and obtained most of the components to redo all the other engine systems, suspension and body systems.

More detail and pics are on my build thread on the RX8 OC here along with a full list of the work I had planned.

She is based on a 2004 S1 (low tax), on SORN, off-road, has an inhibited engine and requires a lift or tow from Redhill in Surrey (carriage to anywhere in the UK is quite cheap if you are flexible on timing and use one of the quote websites).

The car, work and parts in this sale have so far cost me around £8,000.  Of course, projects rarely get their costs back so I accept any sale price will be less than that.  If you are interested in finishing this project and have done your homework (don’t underestimate the commitment required) then get in touch.

IMO for a turbo fit you're best going with an Adaptronic, but whether the RX8 PNP or the hard-wired version is a question with many differing views.  They're not cheap at over £1,000, so the budget option is to get an Apexi PFC second-hand.

Having struggled with finding enough space in the right places for a single-turbo 13B REW in an RX8, albeit partly as I'm being a perfectionist over aerodynamic efficiency, I leave it to you to decide whether there is enough space in a KA's engine bay for a turbo and hence what flexibility you need in a controller.

As to whether to turbo the RX8's Renesis or fit a 13B REW, IMO there are clear differences: the Renesis doesn't take turbocharging well, producing lower power and reliability than a 13B REW, but the process is easier and cheaper than transplanting a 13B REW.

I'm starting to look in depth at how to get an Adaptronic controlling a single-turbo 13B REW in an RX8 (I'm redoing a 13B REW swap that came with an RX7 FD cable-operated throttle body and an Apexi PFC).  So far I've been finding far more questions than answers. Clive has done the swap and says that the Adaptronic isn't a simple plug-and-play, preferring a hard-wire to the RX8 PNP, and no doubt he will continue to give you the benefit of his advice. A few guys in the US have used one on a 13B REW swap (or at least claim to have used one with all the functions operating) and I'm trying to get a write-up from one of them.  Clive's wiring diagram is useful, albeit IMO wiring is an easy battle compared to getting all the parameters set up correctly.  The Adaptronic web site has been down for a while, which is hampering me.

RX-8's / Re: Hello
October 04, 2015, 09:10:16 PM
You cant get any more real power easily.

A decay and larger bore exhaust helps, but you'll be pushed to get more than 5 bhp more without spending mega money.

If you really want more power then get a 231 (relatively cheap option) or get a 13B REW fitted (serious money and commitment).

RX-8's / Re: RX8 R3
September 03, 2015, 07:38:29 PM
No   Far too difficult and expensive to do the full job.  Even making an S1 look like an R3 is expensive and difficult - budget around £3,000 for the wings, bonnet, bumper, front lights, rear lights, seats, dash, stereo, wheels and suspension - and, in any case, most people will think anyone who does that pretty juvenile.

If you want an R3 then buy one, there are plenty around.

oooooh.  Tempting. I used to visit Holland a lot and I'd love to go back. Alas, we can't committ as Annie's grandson is due a few weeks before and she might be needed for a while afterwards. I'm hoping we can still go, taking a few days extra to explore, but it'll have to be a last-minute decision.
