I used Torque GT to import my 2001 Bathurst R. It is nearly 5 years ago, but the process was explained thoroughly and the costs at each stage of the purchase. Took a while to find the right car for me in Japan, but worth the wait. I took the train down to collect and drove back.

Hi, I am looking to replace the standard height adjustable Showa dampers on my Type R Bathurst R. It is only used on the road and I don't want to shake my fillings loose. I was thinking about 8kg front 6kg rear for the Spring rates but not sure. Does anyone know the original Spring rates or have any experience of replacement coilovers for street use?

General Technical / Broken FD Door Handle
February 20, 2016, 05:13:31 PM
The passage door handle broke on my FD, they are made of plastic and had become brittle with age. The mechanism had also become stiff which through lack of use which did not help. I super glued it back together as a temporary measure until I had found a replacement.

I found a pair of powder coated aluminium handles on eBay from napolproducts  for  $99.95 including postage to the UK. I had to pay an additional £11.81 for import VAT and Parcel Force added another £13.50 clearance fee.

It took about 30 minutes to remove the old handles, clean and lubricate the mechanism and fit the new handles to both sides using a 10mm spanner and a couple of cross head screw drivers.

The replacement handles match the surrounds well and should last the lifetime of the car.

Boosted, I started my working life in Westbury as an Aprentice for Blue Circle in 86. It was quite an intense experiance straight from school, winter days spent knee deep in chalk slurry at the quary by the White horse, summer days in the kiln house.

The Bathurst is my first proper performance car and my first RWD since the 78 323 1.4SP that I had when I passed my test. I am keeping my Mazda3 diesel for day to day use.

I found a copy of Brian Long\'s RX7 book about 5 years ago and rekindled my interest in the cars. When the time came to buy a sportscar, I thought about a lot of different cars, but kept coming back to the RX7. It\'s design focus and unique power train really appealed to me.

The Bathurst has done 130,000km and has some stone chips and slight wear on the drivers seat bolsters. It came with the hand book and extensive service paper work, all in Japanese of course. It came fitted with 17" RS type wheels instead of the standard 16" ones.

Thanks Clive, the information on this site really help me understand what to look for when buying an RX. Hoping to be able to take it to Rotorstock next year.

Hi, I had been thinking about buying an RX7 for about 18 months and have found the guidance on this forum invaluable.

I wanted a factory spec unmodified example, so have had a 2001 Type R Bathurst R imported from Japan.

I have had it for a couple of weeks now and it has exceeded all my expectations, the ideal midlife crisis car!
