3rd generation RX-7's / FD air pump hose
April 16, 2012, 01:13:19 PM
hi all,

there is a small rubber hose that connects the outlet side of the air pump to metal pipe that i believe leads to the cat, i found this rubber hose to be in a very bad way when i stripped the intake system off my REX this weekend, it was literally in 2 pieces!

my questions are

1) where can i find a replacement? i need to replace is but cannot seem to find the correct hose.
2) would this be having an effect on the running of the car? i stripped the intake because im getting pretty low mpg at the moment and its running pretty rich.

thanks

is that all the gaskets i need if i take the full exhaust system and turbo\'s off? i have a leak somewhere so going to replace all gaskets on exhaust & turbo, and all vacuum hoses

ok ill get under and get the exhaust fixed this week, i dont think its a huge issue as it starts first time everytime regardless of the temperature, probably just a gasket!

thank you very much for that! i will have a go later, just one more thing

"If no codes are stored it will just give one flash and not repeat, if codes are stored they will cycle."

can you explain that again? when i turn the ignition on it will flash, these flashes indicate a number which relates to an issue, whats the case if they are stored or not? and by cycle do you mean indicate all error codes, then go back over them again?

can any garage read the ECU codes? or do i need to visit a mazda specialist?

exhaust does seem to be blowing a little from towards the front of the car, but how much effect can this have?

ive just used the £40 i put in last week and got about 70miles which equates to 10mpg, and only maybe 3 time did i drive it hard, but only for about 1/2 a mile each time, i cant afford to run it at those costs!

my FD runs very rich and when its sat at idle the smell is very strong! there doesnt seem to be any fuel leak so im not worried about that, but i am only getting about 12mpg and thats not driving it hard!

anything i can check or do to try and help?

General Technical / FD small oil leak...
February 19, 2012, 03:10:49 PM
i have just discovered that my FD has a small oil leak, its not leaving puddles of oil in the drive but when i got underneath i can clearly see that oil is leaking from somewhere and has a small droplet in the centre of the lower engine brace, are there any common locations where this leak could be coming from that i should check first? i hate determining the location of a leak!!
