And just use normal primer. You could do with a gun tbh aerosol primer is too thin.

Hey. TBH it sounds like you need to build up the layers of primer very heavy to create a new level. You can then flat that but dont go through. Im going to cut my own mirror lense out of a diy kit.

Cars for Sale / RX7 FC Turbo 2
April 07, 2013, 07:24:04 PM
Hi guys. I\'ll PM my details to you both. To get back on the road, off the top of my head it needs:

Service (Fresh oil and filter in other words)
Brakes checking for safety
4 Tyres (Low tread)
MOT

It obviously needs a clean and polish etc. Never had a compression check, it drove well untill last winter.

Cars for Sale / RX7 FC Turbo 2
April 03, 2013, 01:25:56 PM
Model: FC Turbo 2 1990 (UK car)
Tax: No(Sorn)
MOT: No

Due to a new job, I have to travel a lot which has resulted in higher outgoings of fuel in my daily driver. As a result, I have to put up my much loved RX7 for sale. There is no chance of me being able to afford to use it this year. It saddens me to do this, as I\'ll never own one like this again for a long time.

The car:

It is currently sat in storage due to my parents drive now being full but I will be getting it out of storage and putting it on my friends driveway (I\'ve stated this to avoid confusion of address\'s).
I bought it from him a few years ago as he was not using it, it needed very little work to get road legal. Though it had running issues which were fixed by Silverstone autosport (Have since changed names to Group B Motorsport). These included replacement of the OMP, refurbishment of the fuel injectors, setting up the throttle body assembly and generally setting up the engine to make sure it was spot on (It was there for 6 weeks!).

The car has covered 62K miles. It has fitted:
Powerflow exhaust system
FCD
Front strut brace
Expensive air filter
JDM steering wheel
Headlight scoop (needs repainting)

I will include in the sale if I get near the asking price:
Decat
Rear strut brace
USDM aero mirrors that I imported and repaired. (Need repainting)
And for £80 an Alloy turbo 2 bonnet (needs painting)

The body work is in good condition but both front wings have dents at the bottom (Easy fix as its a small panel sectioned off). The rear arches although solid need attention now before they start to rust through.
The drivers seat has wear on the edge which I have lived with. The engine pulls very hard, so hard infact I think its making more than standard. The alarm siren went faulty and would not turn off, although the alarm unit works ok. I have cut the wire to the siren.
The car has been sat now since November in storage and needs tyres for mot, service, good clean and a polish. It ran great prior to storage, I used it every other day last year up untill the start of winter. I\'d advise on checking the brakes due to the performance of the car before it is put back on the road.

I am asking £1500 ONO. After some TLC, this car will be worth a lot more and make an awesome toy as it did for me.

Cheers. Tbh im going to end up using a \'cut to shape\' mirror as it\'ll be cheaper and take 5 minutes. I priced up some mirrors from america ebay and by the time it gets sent over it\'ll cost me £25 as customs usually charge me.

Thanks for the feedback. Also anyone in the local area to Chester/Mold would be cool to know.

Im either going to source a glass via Ebay.com. Or I will buy a \'cut to shape\' glass from a car parts store. Lucky for me only one needs the glass. Its a silly design, to access the internals the glass has to be smashed to gain access to a cross head screw that allows the glass holder to be removed, then you can access the motor assembly and mirror chassis.

Heres some pics of the mirrors. They were advertised as one being ok and the other having a crack in the middle. I can repair bodywork to a good standard so I went for them (my girlfriend bought them for me for christmas). Unfortantly when they arrived the broken one was mis-described and had a large chunk missing where it meets the door. After some messaging to the American seller he refunded us and I set about repairing the mirror.
I had to stip the mirror down which involved breaking the glass as these are use once glass. I then had to break the mirror housing completly in half and re aglin the housing back together using some very strong glue and poweder.
I then fillered then crack and went onto filling the big hole with fibreglass. The total repair time for the one mirror was approx 3days on and off.

And here it is painted (the other was simple and only needed flatting, primering and painting)

And I imported the headlight cover from China through ebay. It was a very poor fit and finish, I had to adjust both that and the headlight assembely to fit. Its a slightly off shade as I painted it with some spare VW white I had as the car is going to have some paint work soon. Mike.

Small update for those interested.

I took the car off the road last november for the winter and to save money. During those few months I have gathered a few parts.
USDM aero mirrors that I had to repair and paint, Convertible turbo alloy bonnet and I still have a decat to fit. These are the plans for this spring, then the bodywork needs attention. I want a proper turbo front lip spoiler as mine is the wrong one.
I also have a spares car arriving shortly, though I may get it running for a laugh.
I have a slight issue in regards to storage, I need somewhere to work on the car in the dry for a few months.

Pics to follow once I upload them. Mike.
