3rd generation RX-7's / Intro and advise

thanks for that guys. so alot more reading up to do now.
Already had a look at the dvd so that will make some night time watching, from what i have been reading the engine rebuild is not as hard as it seems compared to a piston block, and the best way to learn is getting in there so going to go with that.
after talking today think we going to pull engine strip it and take the parts to a engine builder for them to have a look, are they ok with this? deside what porting to go for, we are using a HKS T51r BB so from what i can make out standard ports aint big enoughf to run this kind of turbo? then rebuild simples(i wish and will soon find out)

Engine internals, what do i go for as in apexi seals after having a wee look on some sites there is alot of diffrent apex seals to go for so on and so on. or is it best to talk to a engine builder about this?

I am down in portsmouth jsut now with work but up in scotland alot with re worx down there i might use them i been reading good things about them. WGT is the closest to scotland and thats a good 300 miles aarrgg..
thanks again

3rd generation RX-7's / Intro and advise

hi ppl

Well a quick intro about myself, i am scott 30 and live in Dunfirlime (scotland) and an Engineer working on submarines.  Have had lots of diffrent cars from mini\'s to high power skylines, with cars i enjoy messing around and building more than driving but do enjoy the odd track day when finished a build.

So me and 2 ohter mates we went and bought are 1st ever rotary engine RX7 Fd, we have got board of piston engines and wanted to try some thing new and hope to learn a bit about the rotary engine.

we found a nice cheap 95 rex with water seal damage (what we wanted so can rebuild the engine). we have till next may to complete the car so plenty of time over the winter months.
I have had a read over alot of topics on the site very helpful and the site is full of info...
So the few Q i have and sure there be more to come.
the plan was to do a simple rebuild, but after having a look around and the power that can be had with porting and going single we might as well do it while the engine is open.  we also have a T51 (of the old skyline)we are wanting to fit, so much for the simple route.
1. can we rebuild the engine to support the turbo our selfs? get the plates sent of to be machined and ported and we do the rest(who wuld you recomend and round about £££), or is it alot harder considering the size of turbo and the power we want so best left to a pro?

2. what size of port to go for? after reading up on it some ppl say half bridge others extended street port as its a better drive?

3. where to get engine rebuild kits from

i am hoping we can do most of this ourselfs so can learn all about this engine as long as it starts and runs then we have done it haha.

think thats it for now look forward to some advice and help, and sure will be back soon with more Q haha

thanks for your time to read this and any help givien
