Cars for Sale / 95 FD RX7 Single Turbo
August 20, 2018, 02:27:35 PM
1995 Type RB Mazda RX7

The car was first imported in Dec 1997 and has 3 former keepers.

I have owned my RX7 since May 2002, bought from a small japnese car dealer in oxford. At the time of purchase the car mostly came as standard apart from the front bumper and bonnet.

A year after purchasing the engine was overhauled and ported by simon at RoTecniks at a cost of over 5 thousand pounds, thats when things started to gain momentum, while all modifcations were done in place to improve reliability before hand, the goal was to be able to achieve a conserverative reliable single turbo rx7 which was pretty much completed after Carl at hayward rotary remapped the ECU.

During January 2006 the car was sorn kept in dry storage to this day. I used to start the car every month but after the battery died on me its not been running since i'd say 2011. The last time the car was touched the oil, oil filter, spark plugs and fuel was replaced, just never got round to buying a new battery which was 7 years ago.

Having owned the car for 16 years its never been tracked or dragged, has always been garaged and well maintained ie oil changed every 3K miles.

Thanks for the "ADVICE" regarding my Rx7.

Really need to preview my posts.

Hey Clive and boosted, apologies for lack of a reply. Thanks for the advance regarding my Rx7.

I will most likely try to sell as is, without a MOT. Do not have the funds or help unfortunately to be able make the car road worthy again. Would love to have the car go to another enthusiast instead of breaking it.

I seem to remember a rule, in the for sale section, were every item must be priced and "open to offers" was not allowed. Is this still the case or have I imagined it?

Still unsure what to ask for it tbh, best grab some dusty pictures first then onto the For SALE section :16:

Thanks again
Scott

Hey folks,

Apologies for resurrecting such an old post.

So the time has come to say good bye to my beautiful RX7, it's been laid up for 12 years, dry stored under cover. The car has not been started in the last 8 years give or take. Had good intentions of getting it back on the road but life had other ideas. After the battery died 8 years ago I changed the oil, plugs, fuel, just didn't get round to buying a new battery... and here we are nearly a decade later.

The spec is unchanged from the OP above, although I no longer have the standard leather seats or the greddy elbow.

Not sure what the car is worth in this state, hope someone can steer me in the right direction with regards to price / options to sell.

Thanks in advance

Scott

Hey guys,

I have MOT issues with my current run about (Peugeot 106 rallye) and was wondering if anyone can recommend a garage in the Thatcham area of Newbury that can help me get it road worthy?

The car actually failed on exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle 0.55% (i think max is 0.3%).

Also failed on offside front structure has  excessive corrosion, within 30cm of the body mountings and nearside front suspension component excessively corroded.

I am new to the area and the Mot station that tested the car does not do welding work and just wondering if anyone has recommendation for the west berkshire area or knows of any garages i should stay well clear of.

Thanks in advance.

(Not sure what the MRC policy is on linking ebay items so i do apologize if its frowned upon).

Came across what looks like a pair RZ recaro FD seats while scanning fleebay so thought id post them here in case people want to jump on them. Cant seem to post a link so you will have to search for them yourself.

Mazda MX5 R-LTD Special Edition Kevlar Recaro\'s, Item number: 220684133944

Like i say these are not mine, just merely letting you guys know about them.

General Technical / Storeing a Rotary Engine?
January 10, 2010, 03:29:44 PM
Quote from: David Nock;664179I guess you\'re worried about the electrical system firing whilst it\'s cranking over Scoomer? I think I might be as well. (only got a carb/dizzy setup).
So how about this.....take off the plugs leads and mark \'em \'cos a crossed lead later on is disaster. Then take the plugs out and squirt a lube oil spray in. Turn it over by hand then loosely put the plugs back in to store it for longer. Repeat every 3 or 4 months.
You think it\'s tightened up inside? With the plugs out it should turn on the front belts.
When returning to service, as previous post about draining contaminants and refilling.
Hope that helps.
Dave.

Cheers for your help dave :Thumbs-up

Tryed turning the thing by hand and its soild, going to buy a battery and spin it over, hoping it slackens off after a few ZOOM ZOOM\'s with the battery so i can turn it by hand. hoping to get the thing on the raod this summer but im dreading MOT time. :Hammer

General Technical / Storeing a Rotary Engine?

Is it safe cranking the engine over without the plugs in, egi fuse and the HT leads hanging?

Im guessing the plugs need to be put back in after injecting the two stoke as you dont want moisture in the chambers right!?

So will i have to keep squirting two stroke in the engine every time i want to turn it over? Im assuming the oil will get pushed out the exhaust ports when you turn it over right?

Ok, my FD has been off the road for nearly 4 years now and im getting concerned about the engine seizing or an apex sticking. I used to start it every month but over the last 6 months its been flooding nearly everytime, i put this down to the 10\'s & 11\'s spark plugs that were in so they have just been replaced with 7\'s and 9\'s.

The last time it was actually started was 4 months ago because my battery died soon after and it sounded like a tractor as if it was running on one rotor! After 5mins it sounded normal again thank god!!!!

Ive tryed turning the engine over by hand but now its solid and wont move. With no funds left in the pot for a new battery let alone get the thing on the road (Bloody recession) what other options apart from selling for some magic beans do i have to keep the engine healthy?

Cheers guys

Scott.
