General Technical / Ecu 101

Go Megasquirt!
I stuck one on the The Lady\'s turbo MX5. They\'re so easy to tune it\'s untrue. MASSIVE user base and support too (for the MS1 anyway).

So you lose the sock with this pickup?
How does it combat acceleration-starvation when all the fuel is at the back of the tank (not left/right)?

Quote from: Mazdarotaryparts;574310Although a bit fiddly to fit, at £34 plus vat each these offer a very good way of having an adiquate fuel delivery at all times with no baffling or exterior tanks, safely

Could this really be the golden bullet we have ALL been looking for for all these years?

General Technical / High Coolant Usage

Quote from: dj_dee99;574180Cheers dude! Glad you mentioned that, else I probably wouldn\'t have even tried it :D

This line does not have a clip on it as it is not a presurised line. This is the overflow that pushes water into the expansion tank when the car heats up, as the engine cools it then draws it back into the engine (like sucking a straw).

That said, I had water issues and it turned out that this line was not sealing properly. It was pushing into the expansion tank, but when it was sucking it back it was bring air with it too (through a tiny, tiny gap). After a few cyles this would cause the engine to run low, and the coolant tank to overflow. I changed the pipe and all was good.

Sounds like you had a similar problem.

General Technical / Removing FD Oil Cooler Hoses

Yes.  Each cooler has it\'s own built-in thermostat. Important to know if you plan on changing the coolers for something aftermarket as you will need a seperate t-stat.

What you describe sounds very strange.
Typically you will not see ANY boost from the second turbo if the first has not first hit 7 PSI. The fact you are making any boost at all after 4k RPM is odd (at least, not an issue I had heard of).

There are plenty of known issues and fixes for the second-turbo not coming on line. You\'re issue is the opposite though?!

I recommend popping down the A34 to Carl. I\'m pretty sure he knows this car, and has done the servicing on it previously.

Quote from: royal;557166Just in case anyone knows before I spend all day trawling through the thread, does anyone have a dyno graph of an Apexi rx6 turbo kit engine? preferably with street porting and an REW manifold !!

Yeah, I second that request. I have that kit ready to go on when I need to get it rebuilt (unless I sell it!).

Here\'s a pic of the kit:

3rd generation RX-7's / Price Enquiry - Rays Alloys.

I paid 600 for a set in reasonable condition. They did have some excellent rubber on though.

I think your pitching them at the right price.

As has already been alluded to: The both ECU\'s (stock and PFC) do AIT and coolant temp correction, so should not underfuel in cooler weather.

The stock ECU does also retard ignition if it detects knock, but the knock sensor itself is notoriously crap, so rely on that at your peril!
