3rd generation RX-7's / My Nonda RX-7
January 28, 2010, 12:38:26 PM
Just thought i would introduce myself and fire up some pics of my rex :)

My names Kev, and ive had an obsession with Honda\'s over the last 5 years or so.  Civic\'s, Crx\'s, Integra\'s, you name it, ive owned one.  Basically i felt like i\'d exhausted all posibilities with Honda\'s (N/A, S/C, Turbo) and it was time to move on to another mark...and here I am, with my 1st Non Honda in a long time.

Its a 1993 Efini Rx7 which came pretty much stock, aside from a racing beat cat back, a momo steering wheel and a novelty 8 ball gearknob

As you can see, the car came fitted with a set of optional sideskirts (i think?) and some sort of rear brake light cover which wasnt too keen on.  However it was a start, and after a full service, i quickly started making changes.

Removed the rear light cover

Defi BF Guages (still need to find the sensors, but they seem to be more expensive than the gauages themselves!)

Link control

Bride Seats

Also found all this novelty stuff from the car\'s time in Japan whilst i was fitting the seats.  Pokemon??

17x8, 17x9 Desmond Regamasters

Ive always had a soft spot for these wheels since having a set of 15\'s on my last integra, so light, so simple.  Thanks to Keiron for these!

Nardi 330mm steering wheel, Cusco gearknob, red stiched handbrake cover

Then i sold the racing beat and bought a 5zigen Miracle Fireball system

And thats where im at just now

Badly needing suspension, but i purchased some Ohlins springs from a forum member the other day to address that issue.  Should be here tomorrow hopefully!!

Impressions so far.....
Well i\'ve already fallen victim to a few of the FD\'s traits...

Broke the door handle in sub zero temperatures,
Elbow dropped the cubby hole lid and snapped it,
Actually attempted to fit someone in the back "seat"...
Had fun changing the fuel filter

but all in, I\'m loving it.  My bands away on tour for 3 months as of wedneasday so progress will be slow, but im hoping to have the wheels powdercoated satin black when i come back from Europe and a rear diffuser of some discription is also on the cards.  Any advice, observations or general abuse would be greatly appreciated :)

Dont usually like it when the stock lines of the rx7 are changed but the front end is awesome, as is the colour. Not a big fan of the interior however.

finally picked the mag up today!  some write up man, you must be over the moon :)
#6
Yeh that was mine! :)  Need to get out and pick one up!  (Soon as the snow lets up for 2 minutes!!)

Again, congratulations man, a mag feature is one thing but a cover car is something else :)

That is stunning!  ce28\'s look awesome on FD\'s :)

Someone sent me a text last night to say that my old turbo integra was 4th in a poll of the best banzai cars of 2009?  Has anyone picked up a copy yet?

Insuring your rotary / NCB and Heritage Insurance.
December 01, 2009, 10:54:17 PM
Its a sad day when people who actually follow insurance protocol to the fullest extent and are still penalised for it.  Espcially when there are so many people driving these cars, fronting on policies under their parents names, driving under a TP extension on a day to day basis, etc...

Glad you got it sorted mate, I think it would be game over if i lost my NCB!

I have a set of red recaro\'s from when i had my ITR.

Has anyone put these into a rx7 before?

My gut instinct is theyll be too wide...

Quote from: Nik da Greek;653896Glad you\'re chuffed with it, dude....and they all do that, sir :rollin

you\'ve had a pretty awesome motor by the look of that \'Teg, think I remember that mag feature. I\'ll watch with interest to see how the Rex turns out :Thumbs-up.

Yeh it was in banzai earlier on this year.  Had some good times in that car but it was always getting work done in one form or another.  Was a valuable experience tho...400bhp through the front wheels

Thanks for your kind words mate, i dont think the rx7 will be as quick to come together.  Touring full time in a band doesnt pay as well as my old job haha!

Well this car turned out to be all i thought it was going to be!

Drove it home tonight and im over the moon with it.  Checked everything possible and spent a good bit of time looking over the car with my mechanic.

The paintwork is immaculate, bar a few scuffs on the front lip (which i think is par for the course) and the paint has flaked off the centre caps for some reason?

Such a different driving experience to the turbo teg... power delivery was manic on the integra but this is so much more progressive.  I love it!

Going to spend tomorrow cleaning it up and ill get some new pics up at some point.

QuotePretty red honda dude on the Rega\'s!!
Thanks, that started life as a runabout, but ended up full on engine swap, respray etc....

This is the one i miss most

:(

I hope the rx7 has a similar future :)

Thanks for that mate.

The car is up for £3200.  Its got a years MOT, and 6 months tax.

Im taking a mate along to see it who is an experienced mechanic so he should be able to assist in general wear and tear items such as suspension components.  I\'d rather have a stock car to build on.  Ive spent a lot of money in the past trying to fix other peoples mistakes and i\'d rather start fromthe bottom and work my way up.  Already had a look through the parts for sale section on here and seen a few bits and pieces haha!!

I\'m aware that this is cheap for an FD and it might not get me the cleanest example but it seems like a good starting point if all goes well tonight.

Thanks againfor your reply nik!
