2nd generation RX-7's / BOV confusion
March 26, 2013, 06:20:29 PM
Here\'s 2 more pics...

In the 1st one I have pulled up the t-piece so you can see it and where it goes.... The other unseen side (going off shot in the bottom middle of the pic) goes to the pressure sensor...

In the 2nd picture I\'ve basically drawn lines between my existing setup and where the connections used to be for the recirc valve...

I hope these help :)

It goes back to the same "t-piece" that the recirc valve used... You can even use the same piece of vac-tube if it\'s long enough

2nd generation RX-7's / BOV confusion

Pictures are below:

1) Picture from above of the whole setup... The BOV itself can be seen attached to the pipe between the turbo and intercooler. And just down from it in the picture is a blanker for the air intake...

2) Closer picture of how the BOV is fitted

3) This shows the blanker blocking up the hole made by removing the recirc valve... Note: This is just a fancy looking bung, it is just there to stop air from being pulled in after the MAF.

4) How it looks from a distance so you get an idea of positioning...

I hope these pics help, if you\'d like any more or have any questions, feel free to ask and I\'ll do my best to help.

I\'ll take a pic of mine tomorrow (well.. today technically)... Sorry, I totally forgot about doing it...

Basically you need a BOV (and appropriate pipe to connect it with) and something to block off the hole in the air intake pipe... You might need a length of vac hose as well if the one from the recirc valve isn\'t long enough...

I will try and get the pics before I go to work and get them online once I\'m there... Otherwise I\'ll do it when I get home in the evening :)

2nd generation RX-7's / Strange engine behaviour?
March 15, 2013, 03:43:11 PM
This seems like pretty much the same problem that I have been having recently... It feels like fuel starvation to me though... so when the weather brightens up again I\'m going to investigate the wiring and pump...

I\'m assuming that the pump isn\'t keeping the fuel pressure high enough and it eventually gets to the point where nowhere near enough fuel is being injected.... But at the moment this is pure speculation

2nd generation RX-7's / BOV confusion

I recently (yesterday) fitted a BOV to my FC... It really is a 10 min job... Easy to access... And it does make a nice noise :D

I\'m not sure what brand it was, I got it 2nd hand from a thread in the for sale section, I can post up a pic of how it\'s fitted if it would help...

2nd generation RX-7's / Back on the road

I already did the fuel filter :) Thought of that one already :)

That\'s true, I had been thinking about doing the 12v mod to the fuel pump, it\'s is on my "to-do" list for the car, but I\'d forgotten all about it until you just said... I was hoping to hold off until I\'d moved the battery to the boot though, but it\'s definately worth a try at this point. Thanks :)

2nd generation RX-7's / Back on the road
February 17, 2013, 06:51:24 PM
My RX7 is finally drivable on the road (hooray)

I replaced the coilpacks today and now the car is running great for the most part...

There is one small issue left though and it\'s a weird one...

After driving for a while (doesn\'t seen to be any correlation with time) the car will start bogging down if I put my foot down... However if I turn the engine off and restart it, then the problem goes away... Doesn\'t even need any appeciable amount of time either, as I did it while coasting along still when it started to play up... Maybe 5 seconds between off and starting again...

The only thing I can think of for this, is that the fuel pump isn\'t quite keeping enough fuel flow going and it eventually drops in pressure and the restart repressurises the fuel system...

Can anyone else think of anything else I can check?

Thanks in advance :)

If you need to you should be able to resell it without losing anything... Although you might actually turn a profit if you break it, depending on the condition of the parts.
