Blitzboy, I\'m really sorry to hear about this.  Insurance firms are a total joke, the story has made it\'s way onto the S2000 forum as well.  All the best getting this sorted.

Lets hope Highways Insurance read these threads and relise they have made a bad call.

I found this explaination of the rotary engine on the Mazda RX-8 webpage.  This has a fancy animation which might help with some peoples understanding.

Cheers for that.  U mentioned that the later Type R\'s had a different ECU which = more power, r u able to replace the ECU on the earlier UK spec ones to increase the power or is this a non starter?

I found that sticky thread you said about with the different specs on, but there\'s no mention of airbags being fitted.  Do you know if the Jap only Type R\'s had drivers airbags?

Lee - is there much difference between the 92-94 models compared with the 98-99\'ers?  I know that the bhp is a tad lower but is there much difference in spec and extras.

Sorry if this question has been asked before.  But I am new here, so go easy on me.

I\'m some what keen to get myself a 3rd Gen Type R around 98 or 99.  From what I\'ve read these late models were only available in the land of the rising sun.
What I\'d like to know is roughly how much one if going to set me back?  (say I higher miler)

I\'m looking 2 spend about £9000 tops on one and I\'m thinking this would only get me a higher miler (50-60,000 miles).
Is my budget too small?

I\'ve found a few importer websites but only found 1 late Type R and that was £16,000

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Brian 4 typing all that info out.

I\'m looking to threat myself to a RX-7 3rd gen in the next few months and you\'ve answered most of my questions about the many different models.  Now I can start phoning around trying to get some insurance quotes :(

Cheers
