£1500 - £1800 what I'd pay max and this is for something in very good condition physically apart from the engine of course.

Had similar issues long way back when I first got my FD. Had to replace some solenoids in the rat nest but eventually gone single turbo and got rid of all the headaches.

Two brands comes to mind Pirelli and Toyo. The other question you need to consider is your budget.

Doubt you'll be able to register this as 1308 litre. When I bought my FD back in 2004 which is also is an import when I got the V5 documents through it stated 2.6 Litre. Contested this to DVLA in writing but they said they now class Rx7's as 2.6 due to the emissions level it produces.

General Technical / Re: Turbo recommendation

Engine it self was stock and had no porting or any work done to it, as for the wastegate I can't remember the make I had on it but I think it was a Greddy and was installed from you new. See picture of old engine bay below, wastegate was mounted onto Greddy elbow.

The guy's already moved the turbo and put it up for sale but no one's showed interest yet so far.

Your GT40 should still fetch good money so I would say sell that and put the money toward a smaller unit.

I use this turbo and was surprised to read how late you was spooling up, I wonder if your wastegate  wasnt seating or you had huge ports, ?

General Technical / Turbo recommendation
January 03, 2015, 11:39:14 PM
So finally after having my FD parked up for almost 5 years I gave it in for a rebuild early August 2014 and hope to get it back some March April this year. It had GT4088 on it that done just about 1K miles before the engine issues came up which was getting full spool around 4500RPM (yeah almost midway of RPM).

The engine's getting street port which should aid the spool but I don't think it will still be enough to make this thing spool under 3500RPM! I would love to invest in a GT35R but don't think I'll have the kind of money one of these cost after splashing on the rebuild and getting the car road worthy, it also needs a respray.

Can I just change the exhaust housing to something smaller or there any other turbos that I can consider without upsetting my bank manager or my wife divorcing me?

General Technical / Rx7 Rebuild

Rang oldones today, good thing is that they break each job and it\'s charges are individual but bit pricy when it\'s all added up. Also doesn\'t offer warranty.

General Technical / Rx7 Rebuild

Still stuck at this, whether to go with Hayward or someone else. Just spoke to Re Works, they said they offer 12 month warranty and don\'t set any limiters once rebuild to it\'s up to be to run it in sensibly. They also don\'t don\'t do tuning !!! Any other recommendations?

General Technical / Rx7 Rebuild

Anyone heard of Rotarymotion or know if they are any good? I was qouted £2200 for a rebuild of my Single Turbo engine using stock mazda parts with 2 years /24K miles warranty plus another £300 for a street port.

If anyone can recommend someone else to where I could contact for a rebuild, I\'m based in Nottingham but know will have to travel.

You can get the car towed as it is without an ECU. Depending on mods, if the engine didn\'t have any modifications on it and was only fine tuned using the Apexi ECU then a standard factory ECU will get you running again, just make sure you pick the right one for your year. You will probably struggle getting the engine to fire up after standing still all this long. The Apex seals probably stuck now and will need some oiling.

Like you said, the current climate is not the best for selling but if you need the money then you\'d probably make more money selling it in parts rather than a whole. You can still sell it as a whole, but you won\'t get much for it.

Out of interest, if you decide to break it I might be interested in the HID kit.

All the best in your quest.

Just because a relay completes a circuit doesn\'t mean its good, it might be seized and always on! Try relays of another rx and vise versa. Also could be a temp sensor!!!

Don\'t think I will mate, car\'s too good to break. Worset case a rebuild which I will probably carry out my self. Was planning to rebuild my 1st one but money went towards this car, but now every spare cash I get Im putting towards tools and rebuild components for the next 2 months or so.

Possibily a flooded engine. search for the topic and you\'ll find a lot of links on how to treat the problem.
