Rotary Revs is near Leeds if that helps.  They do a good job with street cars.

RX-8's / Re: Rx8s, talk to me....
January 02, 2015, 11:59:31 AM
Series 1 RX8s have a 60 litre tank, Series 2 RX8s (R3s are the only series 2 the UK got there are only about 730 in the UK and whilst they're nice they're more awkward to work on and have unique parts that are harder to come by) have 64 litre tanks.  The holy grail on the RX8OC amongst the eco-minded is 300 miles to the tank on a Series 1 and 324 miles on a Series 2.  I've got 320 from my series 1, but I've also drained a tank in 78 miles!

Given where you are I reckon it would be good to have a chat with Rotary Revs.  It's in Leeds and is run by the chairman of the RX8OC and specialises in RX8s.  Ben can generally find some good stuff in terms of a bargain.

This is the RX8OC buying guide which you should be able to view without signing up to the forum.  (If you can't then PM me!)

General Technical / This flooding issue...
November 22, 2014, 10:57:30 PM
Preventing cold start flooding is the only thing that requires holding the revs at 4000 rpm, anything else is just wasting fuel.

Where are the 4 pot brakes?  How is he making the claimed power?  Smells like serious bull manure to me!

General Technical / diff ratio????
November 12, 2014, 07:04:25 PM
A stock Rx8 on a 4.4:1 diff with 658 mm diameter tyres runs out of power at a shade under 150 mph.  You\'re in 5th and you still have a few rpm to pull before the limiter, 6th gear adds no speed on the flat.

21.5" tyres are 548.25 mm diameter.  This would be at 125 mph in 5th at the same rpm that the RX8 is at 150 mph.  You could probably go to 4.7:1 and still have speed to spare as that would put you at 117 mph in 5th at the same rpm.  There are a few more things to consider over and above that, stuff that it\'s harder to predict without knowing corner speeds and the like but I don\'t think you\'ll run out of rpm with 4.7:1 diff at Combe.  I\'ve been there in my 8 a few times and I\'ve never got out of 4th gear, in fact I\'m only in 3rd and 4th at Combe in the 8, I\'m on the beep in 4th at the top of Avon rise and then in 3rd for Quarry.  I only use 2nd there if I get slowed in the chicanes by other traffic.  I would be nice to be going from 4th to 5th as they\'re closer ratios than 3rd and 4th and you\'re into the power quicker.

It\'s completely dead, new time.  If that doesn\'t work then you might have a sticking solenoid.

I ought to be able to make it over for a couple of the races although my Saturday is quite busy so I cannot promise anything.

Tesco\'s 99 stuff has a lot of ethanol in it so you won\'t get quite as good economy.  Shell\'s dino juice.

Sounds lovely and that sort of torque spread must be nice for driving on the road especially as it\'s not exactly a heavy car.
