Our famous, just look at YouTube, car control days return to Finmere on the fisrt of April. It\'s no joke, but they do make you giggle, lots!
If you have been slipping and sliding and worried during the winter months, this is for you. Lear to control oversteer and skids, understand understeer and have a right good laugh in the process.
We have very cheap tyre support on the day from Mint Tyres, rent rims and part worn tyres to slide about of for £20 and they will even put them on your car for you and swap them back at the end of the day. Tea, coffee, chocy biccies and lots of smiles and definately the art of staying out of ditches.

Dear Driver

We have Bedford Autodrome full GT Circuit booked for Monday 21st March. This is the full 3.6 mile circuit which is renown as a safe circuit as it have few barriers and very large run off areas and so ideal for both beginners, experienced, fast and nimble cars alike.

So I would like to make you aware of a special offer to celebrate my birthday and rather than being depressed about the fact that I am going to be old I thought it better to celebrate it with doing something I like with like minded people. :Party

For this weekend, if you book the  track event using the code BIRTHDAY, you will get the event for the celebratory price of £140. This is only valid for this weekend though from the 4th to the 6th of March.

I hope to see you there.

Best regards

Nick

Quote from: Casey;744686^^^That\'s because you are pushing the limit much more (and with skill!), whereas I\'m sitting well within the car\'s (and my unskilled!) limits. Doesn\'t matter though, huge fun getting nice smooth, and reasonably quick laps with consistent times, especially as the times were ~2-3 seconds quicker than my last outing to BH.

OK, a reminder that this event was one of the 4 MRC 2010 "Officially Supported Trackdays". People have been asking me how to claim their MRC contribution so, if you are a FULL, paid-up, MRC member, drop an email to "Lisa @ mazdarotrayclub.com" (without the spaces!). Include your forum name, real name and your mailing address and Lisa will send you a cheque for £20 towards your costs (brakepads in my case.............again :o)

Stop braking so much for corners, you will save a fortune

Dear All, I have been asked to make you aware of a competition that MaX5 is running to will a seasons racing in the MaX5 race series.

MaX5 is Mazda MX-5 racing and is the original series started in 2004. Although grids suffered significantly in 2009, they had built again to 16 last year and look set to be bigger this year again.

The prize includes:-

MK3 MX-5 Car Hire for the 10 exclusive MX-5 only races.
Race Entry fees,
Tyres, race fuel, brakes etc
Car Transport
£500 towards your race licence if required.

Essentially it is arrive and drive and is worth between £8,000 to £10,000 depending how you work it out.

The competition format is simple; it will take place at Silverstone Stowe on the 15th February. There will be maximum or 108 entrants, so the odds are good, in fact 70,000 times better than the lottery. Drivers in groups of 9 will be assigned a car and instructor. All the drivers will get sighting laps with the instructor and then will complete a timed run. Once all 9 had completed this, they will get a second timed run. The total times will then be compared and the top 2 drivers from each group will progress to the second round of 24 drivers where the process will be repeated. The 6 top drivers will progress to the final and the win of that will receive the prize.

The competition is open to all drivers, race licence holder or not and the limited number of timed runs introduced quite an element of luck, push too hard and times will suffer as they will if you are too restrained, so each and every entrant stands an equal chance of walking away with the prize. It is also a great prize; the chance to call yourself a current racing driver and have the car provided is indeed a great prize. Track days are great, but they do not come close to the feel you get when your heart is racing waiting as you sit on the grid waiting for the lights to go out.

The details are here

www.mx5shootout.com

It is not a great site by any means, but at £199 entrance with only 108 allowed in, the prize certainly is.  :god

So four of us will be running Federal Rs-R Myself, Jan, Crissy and Malcolm, annoyingly they how do the popular 225 40 18 and 245 40 18 (mint had these at finmere!" But there are major stock issues.. Camskill told me no more til March 2011!

Soon be there :)

They have always had these sizes, it is just the 235 40 18 is closest in diameter to the 225 45 18. 245, you could start getting some clearance issues.

Also I wouldn\'t count on Camskill having them as the guy with the UK rights does not like them one bit.

Oh, and Crissy will be on pink Proxes 4\'s :driving

For those of you that might read the MX-5 OC mag, the Mazda driver will be Nick Leason, who was the Brit Car Driver for Mazda in the MX5.
If you really want to shake things up, the Abarth driver will be BTCC driver Mark Ticehurst.
Go on, you don\'t get chances like this very often!
