Hello guys,

Just finished making a photo album for people who are inquiring from far up north & abroad, so thought I\'d post it up here too!

I had the compression test done on 23/11/2012 & the results showed:

Front- 7.7, 7.8, 7.7 @250rpm
Rear- 7.6, 7.7, 7.4 @250rpm

Test was carried out by mobile compression tester Keith- 07598 280 702, he\'s well known & available via both MRC & FDUK forum.
I took pictures to confirm the results but you\'ll have to excuse the quality of the pictures as sunlight made it hard to capture the display.

If you would like compression confirmation in person while viewing, this can of course be arranged.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

Thank you,

Originally imported in 2010, in the UK this car has covered just over delivery miles from the port to my home- It was then dry stored whilst I completed other projects. I’ve only just got around to registering the car recently & no longer wish to modify it in the way I originally intended for it- I’ve been advised by a few rotorheads that it’s too nice a late-spec to modify. It is a stunning stock-body example, which there remains very few of, coupled with its super low mileage making it quite the niche RX7. Along with an excellent condition rust-free chassis, it really is a like-new experience & an absolute pleasure to drive.

I originally sourced & imported this car for its staggeringly low mileage, it also came with some very subtle, selective visual modifications that enhance the car but the engine bay remains bone stock. It has a set of FEED sidesteps which have been painted in a Ferrari gun-metal grey, along with the front splitter to suit the wheels. The door handles have also been refurbished in this colour. The paint is radiant & polishes up extremely well, there are next to no blemishes- this car really doesn’t look its age at all. The front bumper has no stone chips & there are no real signs of wear anywhere.

It has genuine AVS model 7 alloy wheels in fantastic condition, with all 4 centre caps present & not a single mark or kerbing on any wheel. They are wider than stock but fitment is practical & does not rub or scrape in any situation. Lightweight black internal drive lug nuts have been fitted also.

The bilstein suspension setup is not harsh & suitable for everyday use, they are a stock Mazda option, thus ride height is practical & the setup responds well to our roads, the setup exhibit no knocks or bangs at all.

The car was rebuilt in Japan shortly before being exported; the water seals were diagnosed & replaced, as there was no detonation, thus the block is mostly original. This is perfectly normal for a car of this age as even though mileage and wear is low, water seals can require replacement based on age of seals.

Mechanically the car is on point, the car starts fine hot & cold. Drives pleasurably- there are no knocks from the suspension setup & bushes, no clunks or bangs from the diff & no whining from the gearbox. Everything is working as it should. Being a late spec, it also benefits from having a ‘black box’ in place of what rotary owners call ‘the rats nest’. This is the ‘turbo control’ setup found on 92-96 examples, a spaghetti junction of hoses, relays & wires under the upper intake manifold which can often cause problems if a hose pops off or a relay stops working. Mazda later rectified this by implementing the black box, which is far easier to service & rarely goes wrong.

All the interior panels are the late spec variant, as expected for a ‘97 model- these are much more desirable in comparison to the early spec panels which mark easily & can end up looking quite tatty. All the panels are in good condition. It has a 2+2 seating arrangement & the front seats are the later spec carbon effect type.

I have been a rotary enthusiast for over 4 years and also own several on-going FD based projects. Being an enthusiast & a qualified automotive engineer, I maintain my cars religiously. Most potential buyers when looking for RX7s tend to focus heavily on the engine health. However, there is so much more to these cars which differentiate a good car from the rest including exterior and interior condition, suspension bushes and transmission mounts which are commonly neglected on poor high mileage examples.

The engine has been compression tested by Jit’s genuine Mazda Rotary Compression tester showing mid 7s all round at 250rpm. I will shortly upload videos of the test being done, but will happily have this test performed again for any potential buyer. The engine starts first time every time from hot & cold and drives immaculately with no knocks, coolant loss or lubrication issues. Both turbos pull hard in every gear and the sequential system transition is smooth. All of the engine electrics are in perfect working order and the engine is completely unmodified.

Quote from: martinfalcon;816566Hi mate, im interested, but im guessing this has been used for drifting?

Hi mate, it has never been used as a drifter- the old handbrake was a bit tatty so I bought another of someone on here breaking their car. I believe the previous owner had a 1.5way diff installed to make the handling charectaristics more predictable. I do like this setup a lot for fast driving, but no- it has never been near a drift event or similar!

Extremely strong engine with mid-high 7 bar compression in all chambers

Originally imported in 2003, this car has covered few miles in the UK, the chassis is in great condition with no rust issues & sills in great original shape. It has had few modifications since its arrival- these are simply subtle, selective modifications that enhance the car but most importantly the engine bay remains bone stock- The Koni suspension setup is comfortable for everyday use and not set at an impractical height, though it is lowered slightly. They respond perfectly to UK roads, exhibit no knocks or bangs at all.

It has genuine Mazdaspeed 17 MS-01s with perhaps one of the best tyres available- Bridgestone Potenza RE-11, if searched online these tyres are often raved about in reviews. The wheels have been aggressively stanced. The front bumper & sideskirts compliment each other nicely, again adding to the overall stance.

Im extremely particular about panel fitment. Its quite common to find cars with aftermarket panels where the bumper & fender dont quite line up. Extra time was spent making sure the bonnet, lights & fender all match up. The fenders, front bumper & headlight covers have been freshly resprayed.

The Kaaz 1.5 way diff, exedy up rated clutch & flywheel were installed by the previous owner. These do alter the drive; the clutch is rated for more power & bites harder, the differential makes for more effortless sideways action but becomes a nuisance for parallel parking & small manoeuvres. It is down to personal preference, and can be swapped at most garages for an hours labour. Standard differentials cost 100-150 second hand but 1.5ways often go between 400-500, so if you do decide to remove this modification, you will not lose money doing so.

The interior is squeak free, all the panels are the late spec variant- these are much more desirable in comparison to the early spec panels which mark easily & can end up looking quite tatty. All the panels are in good condition including the drivers side cubby box which is very common to break in these cars. It has a 2+2 seating arrangement & the front seats are the later spec carbon effect type. All in all the interior is a very nice place to be, complete with boost gauge & aftermarket cd player.

3rd generation RX-7's / Laeeqs old car

This is the car laeeq had when I joined MRC, always remembered & recognised it as his car, to the point where the car actually looks like laeeq :Giggle

Of course a V12 would fit, just depends how much you\'re willing to cut into the firewall :Giggle

I thought the BMW V10\'s were quite wide, length wise you could fit a V12 in, theoretically, a few people have done straight 6\'s. The American V\'s are usually much slimmer than Germans.
