As the title suggests...
...i\'m trying to save hard for a PFC for my 1993 FD, but not really sure exactly how much i\'ll need!!Think it\'ll cost me around £550-£600 for the PFC...
...looking for estimate\'s on how much i can expect to pay to get my car remapped. There seems to be no where locally (i.e. Scotland grrrrrrr) with RX7 experience (although i\'d happily be corrected!)..and i\'ll be heading south...any ideas??
Robbie (Robertio) appears to be the only expert we have in Scotland, and he has kindly offered to map it, but it\'s a lot of reponsibility for him to take on board....considering the obvious risks to the car. The car has had a rebuild, and is well run in..about 16000miles..roughly.
..suppose the next question would relate to the possiblility of the car going \'pop\' during a mapping session..would Carl,Pip accept responsibility???The whole topic scares me......
Advise gladly accepted!!
Thanks
Marc
Hi Marc
If Roberto says there are no mappers of fd\'s in bonnie Scotland then there aint:D
As to mapping and the tuners responsability I would be very suprised if anyone accept liability unless it was there own engine, there are to many veriables. Having said that I have not heard of many rotary engines going pop whilst being tuned:eek
It seems most of you boys up norf tend to use WGT whose rep is beyond reproach:cool It is a big responsability for a fellow owner to take on the mapping, best advice is get it down to your prefured tuner, sign the waver and watch your horse power climb:rollin
Hope this helps
Anyone got any idea\'s...please!!
Marc
Not sure what you\'re wanting to know?
As John said, all tuners are going to get you to sign a waiver first, or otherwise not accept the heat for an engine death. WGT are way the closest to you. Any one else means a serious drive down south...
..general, rough estimate givin me some idea how much i\'ll need to save for a the remapping, and any suggests at where to ge the best deal on a PFC.....
....that\'s what i\'m looking for.
Cheers
Marc
The price of the Apexi has come down since I bought mine, I have seen figures of around £600 quoted, I know you have to be aware if you are buying it in from Japan / USA there is duty to pay:mad:
My best advice is to get a package price [PFC & mapping] from your tuner. I would guess £200 ish will cover the mapping. Apart from WGT you are looking at a bit of a trip if you are thinking of taking it elsewhere.
Hope this helps:wave
Hi Marc,
What makes you think that you need a power FC?
Have you got some mods on your car that mean that it is required?
For a stock engine and car the best ecu is the stock one. As Rich said, Pip at WGT is your nearest tuner, his number is 01606 48866
Kind regards
Carl
Hi Carl
It\'s had a rebuild, and the current mod\'s are straightthru pipe, decatted, induction kit and dump value. Standard back box though...all mods where on the car when i bought her...
...i\'ve had a issue with the turbo\'s which has been 99% resolved, the 1% is a slight hesitation as the second one kicks in, we reckon that an aftermarket ecu is required to solve this....
..don\'t think i\'m getting the best return for the mods hence the need for a PFC, and the obvious hesitation with the turbo. I have mananged to source one from ebay, at around £500 inc delivery to Scotland, so i\'m gonna comfirm on Monday unless i find a cheaper one....second hand or whatever...
Marc
I would strongly recommend Pip at WGT.
He\'s fitted my Apexi and mapped it a number of times following various mods.
He is no doubt the best expert and the easiest to deal with north of watford gap.
(If you\'re reading this Pip, i\'m sure its worth a discount of my next bill!!)
..looks like it might be a trip down to see Pip then at WGT. I\'ll give him a phone over the next couple of weeks, once i\'ve received my PFC. Might do a wee weekend away.....
..what kinda price, roughly have you paid previously for Pip\'s work?? (you can PM the response)
Thanks
Marc
