Title: Suspension, which one??
Post by: J.j. on October 14, 2004, 11:47:06 PM
Hi guys,
I\'m thinking about changing my suspension soon.  At the moment, I have koni shocks, and some unknown springs.
Thought about just getting some new springs, but those shocks are at least 3, 4 years old.
Been looking into Tein, but not sure which one to choose.
Super street, Super street with U/M, or Type Flex?

Bear in mind that I\'m not planning on track day anytime soon due to warranty, so mainly weekend country road blast and some city driving.

Cheers

koni is generally a good make, get them checked first, they may just want to be adjusted or over hauled.

A lot of Tein\'s seem to come up pretty hard, a bit crashy. Mine certainly. Perhaps not the best if u do a lot of back road driving across lumps and bumps...

A few people I know have the Koni\'s are highly rate them.

You can get both easily so may be try and get a ride in FDs with your chosen setup for comparisons.

Will check those shocks out?  Don\'t know if they\'re adjustable on dampings.  Any advices on the springs??

You do already have very good dampers and l will be surprised if they have died that quick, but l must admit the down side is l personally have found that adjustable Konis tend to be very stiff!!

Although the dearest Tein\'s FLEX damper kit is  the best for the road to give a smooth ride and with that one you can get the electronic box that will let you adjust the dampers while you drive, so you can make it real soft for the bumps but mental hard for the track if you want.

Hope this helps.

HI,
I was thinkign of getting tein super street, not the one with U/m.
I\'m not too bothered with the box.
Will get those shocks checked out.  Any advices on what springs to go for??
Have also been told pillow ball U/M make a huge differents as to robber ones, but noisy.  ??

Cheers

Thats the same setup as Max I think, Koni dampers and RB springs. He loves it.

Clive - about the Konis being very stiff, I know a couple of people who have claimed that the konis are actually softer than stock shocks/springs?? Conversely, every car I\'ve driven with Tein shocks (only 5 or 6 I\'d guess admittedly) have been much harder, very much more \'Japanese\'. Are Flex much different to the old HAs and such?
